Quote: | The team behind Diaspora, the open source alternative to Facebook that got a lot of high-profile press during Facebook's privacy controversies earlier this year, announced today that it is on track to launch the first open source version of its social network on the 15th of September. Just as soon as two of its members get back from the Burning Man festival.

So, not before time, there are now open source alternatives to farcebook & twitter and for those still awake, there is of course https://startpage.com instead of the all consuming g00gle, which I note this site refuses to get rid of, despite knowing how closely enmeshed it is with the US State Dept and its policies now largely based on g00gle demographics and search terms!
Bye bye twitter, hello http://status.net/
Bye bye farcebook, hello http://www.joindiaspora.com/index.html
and good riddance g00gle, hello https://startpage.com/ _________________ "We will lead every revolution against us!" - attrib: Theodor Herzl
