Most of us work to produce goods or a service for which we receive remuneration. In the case of the financial markets this is not the case.
There they speculate to use money as a way of producing money.This is regardless of the source of the income revenue. One method is to open up a market which initially produces good rewards. This is then sold on to small investors as an 'investment opportunity'. When the investment collapses, the small investor pays the price.

The financial markets take no account of the environmental or social impacts of their speculation, which may cause civil unrest, or starvation.
