Why wheel out the Home secretary to bring this statement- is this the Coalitions new face or an attempt to put a respectable face on a botched rescue attempt?
Almost sounds as convincing as Tony

"we judged from the beginning the best hope of securing her release was to attempt to rescue her"

or are they wanting to send a message to the Taliban we will just come and kill you if you take hostages ( brownie points if we secure the hostage)

This is not the first failed rescue attempt.
