Four arrested for Spying For Israel

4 alleged Israeli spies arrested over kidnap plots.
Egyptian authorities have arrested 4 people suspected of spying for Israel and plotting to damage the economy by kidnapping tourists.
A security official said that the suspects who are all Egyptian nationals had set up offices in Egypt Britain Israel and Gaza to monitor official phone conversations and collect info about japanese and chinese tourists visiting Sinai.
Its alleged that Israeli agents would then kidnap the tourists, disrupting Egypt tourism sector, and damaging the economy.
Egypt was the first Arab country to sign a peace agreement with Israel in 1979. however relations have been cooled since then and Egypt authorities have periodically arrested people for spying for Israel.
The suspects, who have been detained since may, have given detailed confessions and the egyptian authorities have notified Interpol about 2 Israeli officers working as their handlers.
News about the case emerged as Egypt pre Hosni Mubarak, publicly criticised Israel for causing a stalemate in peace talks with Palestinians.
