NATO war crimes in Zliten

NATO massacre in Zlitan, August the 8th/9th 2011.

A large number of casualties occurred in the city of Zliten, in the district of Misurata. In Zliten, 85 people were killed including 33 children, 32 women, and 20 men as a result of NATO's deliberate targeting of residential areas and civilian infrastructure. Many of the injured civilian victims are in critical condition and near death.

Zliten has been under constant NATO bombardment for several days. The recent NATO attacks started at about 11:30 p.m. EET on August 8, 2011. At least 7 civilian homes belonging to local farmers were destroyed, killing entire families. In all 20 families were the targets of the NATO bombings.

This video exposes the media's role of covering up the truth.
The mainstream media did not report about this properly or accurately. The media did this to whitewash NATO's war crimes against the Libyan people.

Age old tactic below, didn't notice before but from the RT camera angle Ahmadinejad is made to look small against the interviewer. I recall this was done in WW2 with certain heads of state.

The True Story Of Libya
by Alf Mendes
For the past 3 years we have been faced with a vast financial depression on a global scale, and it is therefore puzzling to find that - more recently at least - British newscasters seldom (if ever) mention the two words; ‘capitalism’ - and the ‘BIS’ (that notorious ‘bank of bankers’). Puzzling inasmuch as these two were in fact largely responsible for this depression, as is now well known (and documented).
At this point, it is of crucial pertinence to note that on February 26 2011, the UN Security Council voted to impose sanctions against Libya in its ‘Resolution 1970’ - which is understandable, given that America has financed the setting up of the UN since WW2, and is therefore in control of it. And on March 17 2011, the security Council approves a no-fly zone in Libya - though it must be noted that China, Russia, Germany, India & Brazil abstained by not voting - & the following day authorizes military strikes by NATO on Libya, which follow subsequently.
In March 2011, 6 USAF A-10 warthog tank-buster aircraft were deployed to attack Libyan ground forces as part of Operation Odyssey Dawn. And there are subsequent attacks by French and British apache helicopters in June 2011, which results in many such attacks which still continue to this day - killing many Libyans - but with little coverage once again. Which is understandable, inasmuch as America and it’s subordinate allies (usually referred to as the ‘International Community’) are backing the Libyan opposition forces against Ghadafi
The logical conclusion to be drawn from above is that Britains’ newscasters now ensure that the news they cast is of a diversionary nature so that the public remains less aware of the role being played by the so-called ‘International Community’ in Libya particularly. This is helped in no small measure by their overwhelming coverage of the riots in Britain recently, in which the rioters were constantly called thuggish criminals by the newscasters - instead of taking into consideration that these riots were more likely a result of the financial depression among the poor. But of one thing we may be sure: our so-called ‘coalition government’ will ensure that this diversionary tactic remains so. Result? more worsening of the financial situation.
The only rational conclusion to be drawn from the foregoing is that if we do not rid ourselves of Capitalism - we soon face a grim future.

NATO foaming at the mouth today as they edge closer to stealing another sovreign oil rich nation - maybe this will make some of the cowardly NATO killers thing twice?

Red Arrows pilot killed in crash
A Red Arrows pilot died today when his stricken jet crashed after he made a dramatic attempt to steer it away from nearby houses.....
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/defence/8713429/Red-Arrows-pilo t-killed-in-crash.html
The RAF Hawks had painted pictures of love hearts in the sky with trails of pink smoke, between 12.30pm and 1.30pm.
The nine aircraft then left the area to fly over nearby Christchurch before returning to the airport. But only eight of them returned.
Nick Woods, 36, told how he discovered the pilot's body in the Stour.
Mr Woods was enjoying a barbecue with his family about 300 yards from the river. The dozen or so family and friends, including his parents and his three-year old son Archie, heard the roar of the jet at about 1.50pm.
"It came in so low across the field. I could see it was in trouble," he said.
"I just shouted "Everybody inside!" because I didn't know how far it would spread when it crashed.
"The next moment my friend Finlay shouted 'He's down!'
"It just sounded like an explosion when it hit – no flames but a huge ripping sound. I saw debris flying in the air.
"Finlay and I ran across the field. The Red Arrow was on the bank. We jumped into the water, found the ejector seat, pulled it up, but it was clean – no-one in it.
"I swam across the river and saw the parachute, and that's where I found him.
"He was near a steep bank, in deep water. He was very badly injured, dead. I was pretty shaken.
"Then a female police officer and a search and rescue guy appeared."
Peter Male, whose brother owns the farmland where the jet crashed, said: "The jet was so low over the houses that the pilot must have been trying to crash land in the fields so he did not hit any of the buildings.
"He suffered terrible, terrible injuries."
Shaun Spencer-Perkins, who witnessed the crash from Throop Mill, where he was walking with his wife, said: "I heard a rushing sound and I saw a plane about 50ft above the ground racing across the fields.
"It impacted and bounced across the field, made it across the river about 100 yards away from where we were.
"We ran into the field following the debris trail to the point of impact," he said. "There were huge black marks and the horrendous smell of aviation fuel."

I doubt it will make them think twice - thinking once would be too big a strain.
These were fellow-countrymen, women and children at risk - totally different from 'foreigners' (to be politically correct - I didn't write what I was going to in case it should be misconstrued as me being racist and zenophobic).

God bless the guy if he did give his life to save others, which it seems likely he did.

Reports of tracer bullets and explosions over the Libyan capital have caused many to believe it's the beginning of the end for Colonel Gaddafi's stronghold. Political analyst Mahdi Nazemroaya who's also in Tripoli, says some sporadic attacks may actually be happening, but in his opinion they are part of psychological warfare.

May God help bring real power to the people of Libya and not the Western oil companies tonight.

They don't seem to realise they are on a future 'menu'.

Toppling Tripoli: 'Gaddafi plans massive counter-attack'

Rebels are claiming they are in control of most of the Libyan capital Tripoli, although state TV is still airing pro-Gaddafi programmes. Heavy fighting has been reported near the Libyan leader's residence. Earlier three of his sons were said to have been arrested. Following a night of chaos in the capital, crowds were seen in the city's central square with people waving revolutionary flags. Dr. Franklin Lamb - the director of Americans for Middle East Peace who was shot by sniper on Sunday- says Gaddafi may be preparing a massive counter-attack.

NATO Slaughter in Tripoli: Operation Siren Signals Assault by Rebels’ Al Qaeda Death Squads
Thierry Meyssan - TARPLEY.net - August 21, 2011
Tripoli, Libya, Aug. 22, 2011, 1 AM CET– On Saturday evening, at 8pm, when the hour of Iftar marked the breaking of the Ramadan fast, the NATO command launched its “Operation Siren” against Libya.
The Sirens were the loudspeakers of the mosques, which were used to launch Al Qaeda’s call to revolt against the Qaddafi government. Immediately the sleeper cells of the Benghazi rebels went into action. These were small groups with great mobility, which carried out multiple attacks. The overnight fighting caused 350 deaths and 3,000 wounded.

Incidents and accidents
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Arrows#Incidents_and_accidents
In 1969 two Gnats crashed, one striking trees at Kemble during practice with one fatality and the second crashing short of the Fairford runway.
In 1971 two Gnats collided during the cross-over manoeuvre with four fatalities.[18]
In 1980 a Hawk hit a yacht mast at an air show in Sussex, the pilot ejected safely.
In 1986 a Hawk rammed into the back of another on a runway.
In 1987 a Hawk crashed into a house in the neighbouring village of Welton, Lincolnshire while practising, nobody was killed and both pilots ejected safely.[19]
On 24 June 1988 a Hawk crashed whilst attempting to take off, and the fuel tanks exploded. The pilot ejected safely.[20]
Also in 1988, Flt Lt Neil MacLachlan died practising a "roll back" during practice at RAF Scampton. [21]
On 17 October 1998 Flt Lt R. Edwards landed short on the runway after a practise run at the Red Arrows then home base, RAF Cranwell, and safely ejected at low altitude.[22]
On 9 September 2003 a Hawk overshot the runway during landing at Jersey Airport while arriving in advance of the Jersey International Air Display. The pilot, Flt Lt Jez Griggs, ran the jet into a gravel pile and little damage was caused. Nobody was harmed. Displays were not affected because the Red Arrows take a spare aircraft with them.[23]
In 2007 the wingtip of a Hawk hit the tail of another during practice flight near RAF Scampton.[24]
On 23 March 2010 two Hawks were involved in a mid air collision. The synchro pair were practising one of their manoeuvres when the two aircraft collided. Red 7, Flt Lt David Montenegro managed to land his plane safely, but the other (Red 6, Flt Lt Mike Ling) was forced to eject and was taken to hospital with a dislocated shoulder. The incident took place during pre-season training at Hellenic Air Force base, Kasteli, in Crete.[25] Wikinews has related news: Red Arrows pilot killed at 2011 Bournemouth air display

On 20 August 2011, a Hawk crashed near Bournemouth Airport following a display at the Bournemouth Air Festival. Flight Lieutenant Jon Egging, pilot of Red 4, was killed in the accident.[26] After the show, as they were returning to Bournemouth Airport to land, he lost height after the split of the formation. Afterwards, people left memorials outside the gate of RAF Scampton.

Libya was set up by the international community. Told it would be treated as a fair member of the UN if it cooperated with weapons inspectors and reduced its military, it complied. Now, UN backed NATO armed rebels are trying to take over the country for international corporate interests. Hopefully, if enough people realize this and stand up, Libya will not end up being the next Iraq or Afghanistan.

Journalist Mahdi Nazemroaya, who is in the hotel in Tripoli where the foreign press have been obliged to stay during the conflict is afraid for his safety and says he's been threatened.

Rebels say they now control most of Tripoli, and have taken Libyan state TV off air. But some reports also suggest that opposition fighters have been looting private houses. Three of Gaddafi's sons are now thought to be in rebel hands. Opposition leaders say a large number of their fighters have been killed. There are reports rebels are closing in on Gaddafi's compound, but the whereabouts of the Colonel are unknown. Some rumours suggest Gaddafi may be in talks with South Africa about a possible escape route, despite denials from both sides. And NATO insists it will continue combat air patrols until all government forces surrender. Following a night of chaos in the capital, crowds have been seen in Tripoli's central square waving revolutionary flags.

Rebels have reportedly entered Tripoli from the west as fighting in Libya appears to be intensifying. Some estimates put the death toll from this weekend alone in the hundreds - with around a thousand injured. It's also believed that major clashes have seen the rebels capture the capital's Mitiga airbase. Opposition forces also claim to have freed prisoners locked up during the uprising against Gaddafi's regime.

Libya is likely to be important to sub-Saharan Africa because the US want to use it as a base for Africom. They will then use it to colonise Africa – as the French have done in Ivory Coast:
'Libya campaign staged to start conquering Africa', http://bit.ly/odWDdv

We are being told lies.
1. NATO ‘cleared a path’ for the gangster rebels by shooting people on the streets from helicopters,
http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=26121

2. The ‘up rising’ consisted of Benghazi cells who came out on the street to start shooting people,
http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=26118

3. Some of Gaddafi army trained with Serbia, who specialized in guerilla war – allowing the enemy into territory and then attacking them.

4. A BBC correspondent (on the PM programme, 22 August) embedded with rebels fled Tripoli saying it wasn’t safe for rebels.

I would guess that NATO will engineer a ‘humanitarian crisis’ in Libya that would force the UN Security Council to allow NATO troops in Libya.

NATO hasn't won a war this or last century and that would include the French with it. Nothing is going to change on that front, either.

There seems to be an attempt to portray the rebels as pro-NATO or directed by NATO or owned by NATO.

Gaddafi brought in the US oil companies in around 2003 and alongside them around 2.5million foreign born workers in a country of 5.5million. At some stage due to the economic crisis this led to conflict and an eruption. His regime became pro-American just as America invaded Iraq.

Obama realising that he has been caught short in Tunisia, Egypt and Yemen thought it smart to intervene in Libya. But they couldn't bring in ground troops en masse and they are selling the war as if the downfall of Gadafi is also ...their victory. Morally they need something positive as everything around them is falling fast (stocks).

The story hasn't as yet been told as we dont know what happens next and what positiion the rebels are going to have vis a vis, Israel and the USA.

UN Report Offers Smoking Gun Proof of NATO & U.S. Lies
Posted: 2011/06/22
From: Mathaba

Quote:
Several of the NATO countries, including Denmark, Germany, Spain and Italy, as well as Australia, PRAISED Colonel Muammar Qaddafi for his excellent work in human rights and were set to give a United Nations award to him and Libya in March. Yet, in a complete about-face they waged war on Libya instead. Kevin Rudd? You and those you conspire with will answer for this.

By Dennis South

Here is a type of "smoking gun" proof that NATO and the U.S. has been operating through a smokescreen of lies, as well as intimidation. Please read the following January 4, 2011 report of the 16th Session of the United Nations General Assembly Human Rights Council, Universal Periodic Review:

http://www2.ohchr.org/english/bodies/hrcouncil/docs/16session/A-HRC-16 -15.pdf

Before NATO and the U.S. started bombing Libya, the United Nations was preparing to bestow an award on Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, and the Libyan Jamahiriya, for its achievements in the area of human rights. That's right--the same man, Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, that NATO and the United States have been telling us for months is a "brutal dictator," was set to be given an award for his human rights record in Libya. How strange it is that the United Nations was set to bestow a human rights award on a "brutal dictator," at the end of March.

So, I ask a question. Who is this "brutal dictator" that the United Nations General Assembly Human Rights Council was preparing to bestow an award to, for human rights, sometime at the end of March? So, they would have us believe that they knew that he was a "brutal dictator," yet decided to give him an award for human rights?! Astounding! Astounding the lies that we're being told by the media, NATO and the U.S. government. Absolutely astounding! Not surprising, but astounding! But more astounding still, is the fact that, time after time after time, much of the American public--without questioning--believes every single word that comes from the "news" media.

It is noteworthy to read the following couple of sentences from the General Assembly's report:

"Several delegations also noted with appreciation the country's commitment to upholding human rights on the ground. Additional statements, which could not be delivered during the interactive dialogue, owing to time constraints, will be posted on the extranet of the universal periodic review when available."

In a footnote of that report, there is a list of countries that praised Colonel Gaddafi and the Libyan Jamahiriya (state of the masses), in support of the General Assembly Human Rights Council's decision to bestow this award upon Colonel Gaddafi. I simply present the list. The reader can look at the list and make his or her own judgement regarding the credibility level, or perceived credibility level, of any of the particular countries listed:

Denmark, China, Italy, The Netherlands, Mauritania, Slovenia, Nicaragua, The Russian Federation, Spain, Indonesia, Sweden, Norway, Ecuador, Hungary, South Africa, The Phillippines, Maldives, Chile, Singapore, Germany, Australia, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Angola, Nigeria, Congo, Burundi, Zambia, Rwanda, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Cote d'Ivoire, Djibouti, Zimbabwe.

If you have been paying any attention to the news, you will note that a few of the above-listed countries suddenly made an about-face, and decided to start supporting NATO and the U.S. in their war of aggression. Why? Why else!? Money. That's always the bottom line, and there's no doubt that it will all be exposed, at some time in the future, just as was exposed the lies that the U.S. government told its citizens, and the world, about "weapons of mass destruction" in Iraq. And those same countries were just about to bestow an award on Colonel Gaddafi, for human rights, after having carefully studied Libyan society. So, what's this about the "brutal dictator?" It's what my big brother would call it: CHEWED UP GRASS [bs!! For the delicate amongst you, pardon my colorful language].

So, I'm wondering: Who do we believe? The news media, that's been telling us, for months, that Colonel Gaddafi is a "brutal dictator." Or do we believe this January 4th, 2011 report from the General Assembly of the United Nations? No way am I trying to "bless" the UN, which has its flaws (as we've all witnessed). But, I worked at the International Office of a university once, and I learned that the UN, despite its flaws, is capable of doing some very good work, though it is my opinion that a new international United Nations should be formed, with headquarters in Libya.

Again: This award was set to be given to Colonel Gaddafi at the end of March. Next thing you know, Libya got bombed.

So, if you hear that your country will soon be given an award by the United Nations, for human rights, LOOK THE HELL OUT! Because you're about to be BOMBED!

Journalists trapped in a Tripoli hotel say there are heavy explosions close-by, power is down, and there's gunfire outside. Journalist Thierry Meyssan, who's founder and chairman of online newspaper the Voltaire Network is in the Rixos hotel in Tripoli and says NATO forces are doing everything to back up rebels...

Government tanks are shelling parts of central Tripoli despite rebels claiming they are in control of most of the Libyan capital. One of Gaddafi's sons is reportedly leading forces towards the city centre. Earlier three of his other sons were said to have been arrested. Heavy fighting has been reported near the Libyan leader's residence. Meanwhile state TV is still airing pro-Gaddafi programmes. Rumours are circulating that Gaddafi may be in talks with South Africa about a possible escape despite denials from both sides. Following a night of chaos in the capital, crowds were seen in the city's central square with people waving revolutionary flags. Journalist Mahdi Nazemroaya says the hotel in Tripoli where the foreign press has been obliged to stay during the conflict has been looted.

Saif Gaddafi has appeared on CNN in a video purpoting to be from Monday night, declaring victory once more, in scenes reminiscent of Chemical Ali in Baghdad. He said exactly the same 6 months ago.

Where have the Gaddafis armed the population?
Where have they held compulsory training in defence brigades for the city?

They haven't? They are more frightened of an armed population than NATO.

The fight is not over in Tripoli but the carve-up of Libya's vast oil riches - the biggest in Africa - is already beginning. The Italian Foreign Minister fired the starting gun, saying Italy's ENI oil company will play the number one role in the region. And as RT's Laura Emmett reports, the service won't come cheap for the Libyan people.

The foreign multinationals were manning the pipelines before the rebellion. Are we now to assume they had a rebellion and a civil war to man them again, when they were manning them before?

The Gaddafi compound has now been overrun, which implies Saifs comments last night were stage managed for the cameras and a signal for the army on his side to lay down their arms, as happened previously in Baghdad, when the anti-aircraft guns were given the order to stand down by Saddam and a couple of US tanks 'took over' Baghdad going right through the middle with no one resisting them.

This is the programme of the Transitional Council of Libya.
On paper it doesn't sound as it has been written by the multinational corporations.
But as with everything in life, the proof will be in the eating, or whether they implement any of this. I have highlighted 7a

Quote:

A vision of a democratic Libya

The interim national council hereby presents its vision for rebuilding the democratic state of Libya. This vision responds to the needs and aspirations of our people, while incorporating the historical changes brought about by the 17 February revolution.

We have learnt from the struggles of our past during the dark days of dictatorship that there is no alternative to building a free and democratic society and ensuring the supremacy of international humanitarian law and human rights declarations. This can only be achieved through dialogue, tolerance, co-operation, national cohesiveness and the active participation of all citizens. As we are familiar with being ruled by the authoritarian dictatorship of one man, the political authority that we seek must represent the free will of the people, without exclusion or suppression of any voice.

The lessons of our past will outline our social contract through the need to respect the interests of all groups and classes that comprise the fabric of our society and not compromise the interests of one at the expense of the other. It is this social contract that must lead us to a civil society that recognises intellectual and political pluralism and allows for the peaceful transfer of power through legal institutions and ballot boxes; in accordance with a national constitution crafted by the people and endorsed in a referendum.

To that end, we will outline our aspirations for a modern, free and united state, following the defeat of the illegal Gaddafi regime. The interim national council will be guided by the following in our continuing march to freedom, through espousing the principles of political democracy. We recognise without reservation our obligation to:

1. Draft a national constitution that clearly defines its nature, essence and purpose and establishes legal, political, civil, legislative, executive and judicial institutions. The constitution will also clarify the rights and obligations of citizens in a transparent manner, thus separating and balancing the three branches of legislative, executive and judicial powers.

2. Form political organisations and civil institutions including the formation of political parties, popular organisations, unions, societies and other civil and peaceful associations.

3. Maintain a constitutional civil and free state by upholding intellectual and political pluralism and the peaceful transfer of power, opening the way for genuine political participation, without discrimination.

4. Guarantee every Libyan citizen, of statutory age, the right to vote in free and fair parliamentary and presidential elections, as well as the right to run for office.

5. Guarantee and respect the freedom of expression through media, peaceful protests, demonstrations and sit-ins and other means of communication, in accordance with the constitution and its laws in a way that protects public security and social peace.

6. A state that draws strength from our strong religious beliefs in peace, truth, justice and equality.

7. Political democracy and the values of social justice, which include:

a. The nation’s economy to be used for the benefit of the Libyan people by creating effective economic institutions in order to eradicate poverty and unemployment – working towards a healthy society, a green environment and a prosperous economy.

b. The development of genuine economic partnerships between a strong and productive public sector, a free private sector and a supportive and effective civil society, which overstands corruption and waste.

c. Support the use of science and technology for the betterment of society, through investments in education, research and development, thus enabling the encouragement of an innovative culture and enhancing the spirit of creativity. Focus on emphasising individual rights in a way that guarantees social freedoms that were denied to the Libyan people during the rule of dictatorship. In addition to building efficient public and private institutions and funds for social care, integration and solidarity, the state will guarantee the rights and empowerment of women in all legal, political, economic and cultural spheres.

d. A constitutional civil state which respects the sanctity of religious doctrine and condemns intolerance, extremism and violence that are manufactured by certain political, social or economic interests. The state to which we aspire will denounce violence, terrorism, intolerance and cultural isolation; while respecting human rights, rules and principles of citizenship and the rights of minorities and those most vulnerable. Every individual will enjoy the full rights of citizenship, regardless of colour, gender, ethnicity or social status.

8. Build a democratic Libya whose international and regional relationships will be based upon:

a. The embodiment of democratic values and institutions which respects its neighbours, builds partnerships and recognises the independence and sovereignty of other nations. The state will also seek to enhance regional integration and international co-operation through its participation with members of the international community in achieving international peace and security.

b. A state which will uphold the values of international justice, citizenship, the respect of international humanitarian law and human rights declarations, as well as condemning authoritarian and despotic regimes. The interests and rights of foreign nationals and companies will be protected. Immigration, residency and citizenship will be managed by government institutions, respecting the principles and rights of political asylum and public liberties.

c. A state which will join the international community in rejecting and denouncing racism, discrimination and terrorism while strongly supporting peace, democracy and freedom.

Most notable in Gaddafi's speeches is his reference to this as a 'Crusader War'

Rebels’ Assault on Tripoli Began With Careful Work Inside
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/08/23/world/africa/23reconstruct.html
Rebel forces even advanced on Tripoli by boat, arranging a flotilla from the town of Misurata in an operation the rebels (or was it NATO? ed.) called Mermaid Dawn.

Walter Burien reproduces Brian Becker's article on Libya in his 'National Post' , 'A Nation Beguiled':

http://anationbeguiled.com/?p=1860

It really does look like the 'Great Satan' is on a roll.
Their 'Arab Spring' worked a treat!!
Their 'friends' in the 'Anti-War' movement and 'Left Wing' organisations fell over themselves in their race to applaud the 'phenomenon'.

The one thing that could cause it serious problems is massive realisation that 9/11 was an 'Inside Job' (the one thing 'Stop the War', CND, 'Morning Star', 'Socialist Worker' etc will not address; one wonders why Laughing ); nothing else, IMO, stands a chance of stopping this Luciferian NWO Juggernaught.
That, and the Zionist connection with 9/11.

BBC FAKING? Tripoli demo using archive demo footage from India as if live

Link

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_-lzI8I0_0
At about 50 seconds into the above video, you see the supposed Libyan National Transitional Council celebrating in the Green Square, and waving flags!
Here is a single frame from the above.
Note the flag they are waving, with the light colored center? That is the flag of INDIA! (And the people in the crowd look Indian!
It looks like BBC couldn't find any celebrating Libyans, so they used an old shot of celebrating Indians and bet that we were too stupid to notice, just like they bet we were too stupid to notice when BBC reported the collapse of World Trade Center building 7 before it actually happened!

Some reminders tonight of important things from the last five months

Reason for war? Gaddafi wanted to nationalise oil
25.03.2011
The Libyan leader proposed the nationalisation of U.S. oil companies, as well as those of UK, Germany, Spain, Norway, Canada and Italy in 2009.
On January 25, 2009, Muammar Al Gaddafi announced that his country was studying the nationalisation of foreign companies due to lower oil prices.
"The oil-exporting countries should opt for nationalisation because of the rapid fall in oil prices. We must put the issue on the table and discuss it seriously," said Gaddafi.
"Oil should be owned by the State at this time, so we could better control prices by the increase or decrease in production," said the Libyan leader.
These statements have worried the main foreign companies operating in Libya: Anglo-Dutch Shell, British Petroleum, U.S. ExxonMobil, Hess Corp., Marathon Oil, Occidental Petroleum and ConocoPhillips, the Spanish Repsol, Germany's Wintershall, Austria's OMV , Norway's Statoil, Eni and Canada's Petro Canada.
In 2008, the Libyan state oil company, National Oil, prepared a report on the subject in which officials suggested modifying the production-sharing agreements with foreign companies in order to increase state revenues.
As a result of these contract changes, Libya gained 5.4 billion dollars in oil revenues.
On February 16, 2009, Gaddafi took a step further and called on Libyans to back his proposal to dismantle the government and to distribute the oil wealth directly to the 5 million inhabitants of the country.
However, his plan to deliver oil revenues directly to the Libyan people met opposition by senior officials who could lose their jobs due to a parallel plan by Gaddafi to rid the state of corruption.
Some officials, including Prime Minister Al-Baghdadi, Ali Al-Mahmoudi and Farhat Omar Bin Guida, of the Central Bank, told Gaddafi that the measure could harm the country's economy in the long term due to "capital flight."
"Do not be afraid to directly redistribute the oil money and create fairer governance structures that respond to people's interests," Gaddafi said in a Popular Committee.
The Popular Committees are the backbone of Libya. Through them citizens are represented at the district level.
"The Administration has failed and the state's economy has failed. Enough is enough. The solution is for the Libyan people to directly receive oil revenues and decide what to do with them," Gaddafi said in a speech broadcast on state television. To this end, the Libyan leader urged a radical reform of government bureaucracy.
Despite this, senior Libyan government officials voted to delay Gaddafi's plans. Only 64 ministers from a total of 468 Popular Committee members voted for the measure. There were 251 who saw the measures as positive, but chose to delay their implementation.
Given the rejection of the Committee, Gaddafi affirmed before a public meeting: "My dream during all these years was to give the power and wealth directly to the people."

Libya's 'exiled prince' says Kadhafi must go
by Denis Hiault – Sat Feb 26, 9:13 am ET
http://www.bayoubuzz.com/Europe/libya-s-exiled-prince-says-kadhafi-mus t-go-afp.html
http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20110226/wl_uk_afp/libyapoliticsunrestbrit ainroyals
LONDON (AFP) – From exile in London, Muhammad al-Senussi, the heir apparent in Libya's overthrown monarchy, hails the "heroes" of the uprising and urges the international community to oust Moamer Kadhafi.

In more than two decades in the British capital, the successor of the deposed King Idriss has found his proclamations falling on deaf ears.
But with an uprising tearing through Libya and Kadhafi's authority shaken to its core, he hopes his voice will be heard.
"My message to the international community is to put pressure on Kadhafi and ask him to stop killing his own people immediately. And ask him to leave, himself and his children and all the regime. This guy has to leave," he told AFP in an interview Friday.
For al-Senussi, a 48-year-old with the neat appearance of a besuited businessman who styles himself the "exiled prince", Kadhafi is his bete noire.
Then an army captain, Kadhafi led the coup which overthrew al-Senussi's pro-Western great uncle in 1969 and then confined the crown prince, his wife and their eight children, including then seven-year-old Muhammad, to house arrest.
And it was Kadhafi who eventually forced the royal family to leave the country in 1988.
Today, al-Senussi accuses him of "massacring" his own people.
"I have contacts inside Libya in the east and west and everywhere. And they keep telling me about the situation there.
"It's a human disaster, it's terrible. People are killed every day, the hospitals are full of bodies, wounded and dead bodies.
"They are short of medicines. The situation is a human disaster."
When pressed on what he can do to prevent the repression, al-Senussi said: "I ask the international community to put pressure on Kadhafi to stop killing his own people and I issue a statement asking the international community to put pressure on Kadhafi to stop the killing and leave the country."
On the question of whether foreign military intervention is required to remove the Libyan leader, he said the international community should do "anything to stop the killing of my people, and to put pressure on Kadhafi. It's for them to decide."
Al-Senussi takes particular pride in the re-appearance of the flag of the former monarchy on the streets of Libya.
Banned by Kadhafi for 40 years, the black, red and green flag with a crescent and star has been enthusiastically waved by anti-regime demonstrators.
"This use of the flag is very touching for me," he said. "This flag is the freedom flag, the independence flag.
"This flag is becoming the symbol of the young people. That makes me very very, very happy. Because this flag is for freedom."
But he is cautious to interpret the newfound passion for the old flag as a sign that the people want the monarchy to be re-established, and he insists that a return to power is not his aim.
"I see myself as a servant to the Libyan people. They will decide what they want. My goal is to serve my people as much as I can," he said.
In a statement issued "to the brave Libyan people" by Bell Pottinger, a communications agency whose services do not come cheap, al-Senussi sent his condolences "for the heroes who have laid down their lives" in the uprising.
The "exiled prince" is guarded about his life in London, telling past interviewers that he lives in a modest apartment and receives financial support from fellow exiled Libyans.

Has nobody anything to say on this blatant piece of BBC lying propaganda? They showed footage of INDIANS waving their national flag somewhere in INDIA as a celebration of something to do with INDIA but broadcast it as "Live from Tripoli" and purporting to be LIBYANS joyously celebrating their liberation from Gaddafi!!!! It doesn't get much worse than this. Hitler and Goebbels would be ashamed to behave like this.
