Just got a one off job delivering bin collection day notices to around 1200 properties for my local council. I have to sign a 3 page Personal Safety form. Includes:
wear gloves if cold
watch out for poor standard of road and pavements and street lighting (own council admitting their shoddy maintenance)
risks of violence and aggression--obviously putting leaflets through letter boxes COULD cause riots
tell someone where your going-- does that mean air sea mountain rescue
use implement to prod leaflet through door if nasty dog inside.
watch out for holes in peoples driveways !!
dont carry money---gosh cashless society already As if not carrying money is gonna stop a would be mugger-
one I like the best- if dangerous dog on property prevents delivery take a note of number and post it to them--- (meaning let the postman get bitten!)

On second thoughts don't do the job it's too dangerous 
On a more serious note they've got to create more jobs somewhere might as well be in the more paper wasting department
