EU's Schengen Treaty on its Way Out Alongside EU?

The cornerstone of the EU was the free movement of people goods and capital.

Internal border controls have been abolished more than a decade now.

The open border routes in which used to be Spain and Italy and now is only Greece has re-emerged once more with the Arab crisis and the influx in southern Italy and the issuing of permits for visa free travel within the EU by Berlusconi.

France objected and now the whole of the Schengen Treaty is about to unravel. Denmark is re-introducing border controls and soon they may be rolled out all over continental Europe.

Not that it actually means anything as Britain hasn't been part of the Schengen Treaty and that hasn't stopped or curtailled mass illegal immigration.
