Stop press! Exciting news from Colchester Stop the War Coalition:

'10 years on - end the occupation of Afghanistan, solidarity with Michael Lyons' public meeting is going to be addressed by Joe Glenton, the soldier who was locked up in the Military Corrective Training Centre last year for refusing to return to fight in Afghanistan (and who Colchester Stop the War supported with solidarity action during that time) and Jill Harris, Michael Lyons' mother. Details are:

Obviously we want as many people as possible to come to this meeting in solidarity with the naval medic who has been locked up for refusing to train to fight in Afghanistan. So we have got a Stop the War planning meeting to discuss building solidarity activity with Michael Lyons as well as other Stop the War events. That will be this Sunday (21st), 3pm, Albatta Cafe, 18 Sir Isaac's Walk, Colchester. Please feel free to invite others, bring ideas etc.



The next vigil in solidarity with Michael Lyons will be 3-5pm, Sat 3rd September, outside the Military Corrective Training Centre, Berechurch Hall Road, Colchester, CO2 9MU. The last vigil was very well attended, attracted lots of press attention and, we have been told, was very much appreciated by Michael who drew strength from the support demonstrated outside. So please come and tell others about it as it's having an important effect.
