O2 Ads and Pan (Goat of Mendes-Baphomet)

Not having a TV I usually am well behind on televised MSM and casually flicking through the Daily Star (It was that or the Sun) over a coffee I noticed an O2 ad with a horned guy.
Any one up to speed on why a lot of their televised and printed ads include this guy as half goat and half man

seems they did one a while with "chemtrails" in the sky and water sprinklers spraying kids in dark hoodies like the grim reaper

Making a stock conspiracy theory into safe sci-fi fiction, at a guess. Why do they go to such expense and effort to mock the unthinking masses they are trying to get to buy their phones? Is it the human trait of hating to have to keep a secret and giving out clues? (The Rutger Hauer Guinness* ads of the 80's had a similar spooking quality - it's an tried idea)


*the ploy of using bizarre characters to sell things to people with completely mainstream lifestyles and outlooks.
