On wirral yesterday and today most petrol stations with long queues and closing with no fuel. Radio playing it down by saying some garages when in fact everyone i passed had large queues.

An interesting study for those in control of propaganda at the response of joe public to government pronouncements and media stories.
Seems ironic in the release of report about why riots happened.

From last year: In the 1990s, there were over 19000 filling stations in the UK. Today, the total stands at less than 9000
http://mobile.uk.msn.com/device/car/news/article.aspx?cp-documentid=96 99717

Very interesting this - do I detect an exercise of some sort?
I've just been on the road and seen NO above average fuel queues round Bristol at all.
Since the massive reduction of filling stations over the last 15 years by 40% or so ordinary garages round Bristol have been extremely busy.
This is becoming entirely normal now as the Oil Companies' infrastructure can only just cope with present demand in many urban or semi-urban areas.
Since so many feul stations are already working at capacity HOW CAN IT BE POSSIBLE for them to RUN OUT OF FUEL even though there is no strike?
It can't!

Looks to me like the North West is being experimented on because down here there is no noticable demand over and above the norm - which is petrol stations running at capacity with usually the equivalent of one car waiting behind every car that is actually filling up at the pump.
At peak times, rush hours, the maximum load goes up to two cars waiting for every single pump which means cars are queuing down the road.
This has become NORMAL - repeat NORMAL - over the last half-decade or so as filling stations are being closed.
Once a long queue starts to form as above outside a filling station with say 12 pumps - a queue of 12 cars inside and 12 cars outside the station waiting is the norm.
At that point queues reach a natural limit as drivers low-ish on fuel will not bother - preferring to put off filling up to a convenient off-peak time say the next day.
This NE fuel running out thing HAS to be fixed. Therefore the tanker drivers' union maywell be part of the game, or exercise. What other explanation is there?
Who is the strike leader? Who is blocking health & safety at the employers like Hoyer?
Who and what is Hoyer?
Who are these individuals?

Gleaned from The Guardian
Around 2,000 drivers were balloted at at seven companies
Drivers for 5 of the 7 said yes.
Drivers at:
DHL backed action short of a strike.
J. W. Suckling, which supplies Jet and Total rejected strike.

Hoyer is the only of the striking yes ballot firm named here.
"Unite members working for five fuel distribution firms delivering fuel for household names, including, Tesco, Sainsbury's, BP, Shell and Esso, backed the call for strike action"

None of these companies except DHL & BP display their company brand logo on their tankers do they?
Why is that?
Because there is no real market or competition when it comes to the energy business.
Why on earth would any half-decent company want to stay anonymous?
Because these are cults not companies.

The Telegraph is better:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/energy/fuel/9171811/Petrol-strikes-Qa ndA.html

Here are the 5 distribution firms who voted yes:

Turners
Norbert Dentressangle
Wincanton
BP (the only one which actually runs refineries and/or petrol stations)
Hoyer (rail freight cut-out firm rather too much like the Rockefeller monopoly Standard Oil)

These 5 deliver petrol to Shell, Esso, Tesco, BP and Sainsbury’s.

Tories in false-flag "petrol"scam ...

Petrol crisis 'is our Thatcher moment', Tory MPs reportedly tell party members

Unite accuses ministers of 'spoiling for a fight' after memo from MPs emerges comparing situation with 1980s miners' strike

Tory MPs have compared the panic over fuel supplies to the 1980s miners' strike and urged party members to "humiliate" the unions by stockpiling petrol, it has been reported.

In a private message from MPs to constituency associations, seen by the Daily Telegraph's Charles Moore, members were told: "This is our Thatcher moment."

The message reportedly continues:

Quote:
"In order to defeat the coming miners' strike, [Thatcher] stockpiled coal. When the strike came, she weathered it, and the Labour party, tarred by the strike, was humiliated. In order to defeat the coming fuel drivers' strike, we want supplies of petrol stockpiled. Then, if the strike comes, we will weather it, and Labour, in hock to the Unite union, will be blamed."

In his blog, Moore comments: "There is a key difference which ministers have not spotted. When Mrs Thatcher piled up the coal at power stations until the strike began in 1984, she was not inconveniencing the public.

"In 2012, the coalition is trying to press-gang the public, without saying so, into its political battles. All those people queuing on the forecourts were pawns in a government-organised blame-game."

He added: "No doubt many people reading this column are happy that Ed Miliband's and Ed Balls's dependence on a large trade union should be exposed, but very few, I suspect, appreciate being made into mugs. (And the political effect, of course, is the opposite of that intended: Unite now looks virtuous, and is much better placed to win its demands.)"

Len McCluskey, the general secretary of Unite, said the government's "posturing" was scuppering chances for an end to the tanker drivers' dispute, which has caused motorists to queues at petrol pumps across the UK and stockpile fuel in order to pre-empt any strike that could lead to a fuel shortage. "We call on the government to come clean on its whole approach to this dispute," said McCluskey. "Is it acting as an honest broker, or is it spoiling for a fight in order to get itself out of the political hole its class-focused economic mismanagement has put it in?

"Over the last few days its every move has been designed to whip up unnecessary tension at the expense of the public. Ministers knew all along that a strike could not possibly be less than seven days away even were it to be called – that is the law. Yet they panicked the nation all the way to the petrol pumps because they imagined it would boost them in the polls.

"The British people know that this posturing and positioning is poisoning the prospects for an early resolution to the dispute."

The government stands accused of mishandling the crisis by Labour MPs, who called for the resignation of Cabinet Office minister Francis Maude, who has faced a barrage of criticism from fire experts ever since advising motorists earlier this week to store jerry cans of fuel in their garages.

Calls for his resignation came after a woman suffered serious burns while transferring petrol into a jerry can in her kitchen.

The government has since changed its advice to motorists after Unite, the union representing 2,000 fuel tanker drivers, ruled out the threat of strikes over Easter. After days of urging motorists to fill up if their tanks dropped below two-thirds full, the Department for Energy and Climate Change said there was no need to queue on petrol forecourts.

"There is no urgency to top up your tank, a strike will not happen over Easter," it said.

But with Unite stressing it retained the right to call industrial action if talks, expected to start next week, break down, No 10 stressed the threat was not yet over. "It remains vital we take the necessary steps to keep the country safe in case there is a strike," a spokesman said.

The move followed more panic-buying at garages across the country on Friday, with petrol sales rising by almost 172% on Thursday and diesel sales up by 77%.

David Cameron said his heart went out to the woman in York who was burnt, describing it as a "desperate" incident.

Speaking at No 10 shortly after he chaired another meeting of the Cobra emergency contingencies committee, the prime minister welcomed Unite's decision and called on the union to engage constructively in talks expected to start next week at the conciliation service Acas.

Senior Conservative critical over Government 'mistake'

Last updated Sat 31 Mar 2012

Senior Conservative MP Bernard Jenkin has criticised the way ministers provoked panic-buying after a difficult week for the Government.

He told the BBC's Sunday Politics East programme:

My feeling is this was to try to take people's minds off donors, the Budget and pasties - and the Government added to the heat on this.

But really there should not have been any move to encourage people to buy more than they normally buy without consulting the industry first. I think that was the mistake.

Deregulation of fuel tankers

Link

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZidpiFbnTI

Unite fuel tanker drivers are working in an increasingly fragmented and unstable industry. The contract merry-go-round means that drivers are being passed around like the vital commodity they deliver. With each new employer the drivers suffer further attacks on their working conditions. Enough is Enough, end oil industry greed. Back Unite's call for industry minimum standards on health & safety, training and an industry-wide pension scheme, pay and terms and conditions.
