A senior police officer suspended over allegations of gross misconduct and fraud has been found dead on a railway line after being hit by a train.
Assistant Chief Constable Gordon Fraser was struck by a train yesterday lunchtime (Friday) in Aston Magna, Moreton-in-Marsh in Gloucestershire.

Paramedics from Great Western Ambulance Service attended but Mr Fraser was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mr Fraser, of Leicestershire Police, had been suspended from duty since December 2010 pending an investigation into his conduct by Merseryside Police.
He'd also been due to appear in court on Monday October 22 in connection with a separate allegation of perverting the course of justice by Hertfordshire Police.
His death is not being treated as suspicious

Suspended assistant chief constable found dead after 'train suicide'
Assistant chief constable Gordon Fraser, who had been suspended by Leicestershire police over allegations of gross misconduct and fraud, has died after apparently committing suicide by jumping in front of train.

The Leicestershire police officer's body was discovered at Aston Magna, Moreton in Marsh, Gloucestershire, yesterday after authorities were notified that a man had been hit by a train.
Emergency staff pronounced Mr Fraser dead at the scene.
A joint police statement said: 'Leicestershire Police Authority and Leicestershire Police are deeply shocked and saddened by the death of assistant chief constable Gordon Fraser and our thoughts are with his family and friends.
'British Transport Police is investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and will prepare a file for the coroner.
'The death is currently being treated as non-suspicious.'
They added the officer was offered welfare support after his suspension in December 2010.
Merseyside police had previously confirmed Mr Fraser was being investigated after allegations of misconduct and fraud were made against him.
He was also scheduled to appear in court on Monday alongside his wife Teresa on a different charge of perverting the course of justice over a speeding incident.
The prosecution allege Mrs Fraser took the blame for a speeding offence that was committed by her husband.
