Antonio Salazar, the creator of the Estado Novo republic (1933-1974), wasn’t fascist; he was a kind of Hugo Chávez, he was not copying what the other authoritarian leaders were doing in Europe, but instead did only what he wanted and as he wanted. For example, he kept the Iberian Peninsula neutral during the World War II and helped thousands of jews to escape the nazi Holocaust. Later, the Estado Novo acknowledged the existence of Bilderberg, but didn’t accepted any orders from them, from NATO of from ONU – they all wanted Salazar to get out of Africa. Salazar was accused of being fascist by these people, because he stubbornly didn’t do what they wanted. I’m not saying he was good, but he never was nazi or fascist.
Masonry had a strong influence in the History of Portugal, plotting the end of the monarchy on 1910 and forming the first Portuguese republic. That first republic was so corrupt that several revolutions ended it, and masons began to have bad fame. Then Salazar, an anti-mason, was placed into power in 1926, and later started the Estado Novo. He banned all secret societies, including Masonry.
Masonry only returned in full force in 1974, having again presidents, prime-ministers, ministers, members of parliament who where/are masons. They restarted their influence, and publicly brag of having “brothers” in practically every corner of the third Portuguese republic (post 1974)

Enrique Rebiro's father and uncle were one of the organisers of the Carnation Revolution in Portugal which replaced a fascist dictatorship with a democratic government in an election organised by the Portuguese communist party. We hear about Portugal in the aftermath of World War 2 as quietly supporting Hitler and governed by a secret Masonic government with António de Oliveira Salazar in charge. This all changed on Thursday 25th April 1974 when the Revolution of the Captains took place. The Carnation Revolution where women put carnation flowers into the rifles of the soldiers. The coup was conducted without any of the former regime being killed.

In 2011 when the Portuguese Republic avoided default by requesting international financial assistance to the International Monetary Fund, Otelo Saraiva de Carvalho, one of the best known captains who coordinated and organized the April 1974 military coup - the Carnation Revolution, stated that he wouldn't have taken part in the revolution if he had known what the country would become after it
