Most likely 'c*** up' rather than 'conspiracy' this one but posting here anyway
20th anniversary of this attack today.
Clearest apparent evidence for this being a Gladio Operation organised through NATO Intelligence in Brussels was and is that the 'codeword' used to call in a warning to police was not a recognised IRA codeword.
Also, more circumstantially, the 'counterproductive to the IRA cause' bombs were aimed randomly at civilians, resulting in an outcry against the IRA's cause and the warning was phoned in to the police of another city, not Warrington.
The IRA soon admitted to being behind the bombings but stressed that warnings had been given.
So either it was a particularly bungling IRA team, or a counter-gang of some kind, a false flag attack that was assumed by the IRA to be one of their units under their command when it was working under the influence of NATO and British Intelligence.
Certainly a conundrum.

Police are investigating whether the bomb that killed a police officer in Northern Ireland was made using explosives supplied to the IRA by Col Gaddafi's regime in Libya.

On Saturday March 20th 1993 an IRA bomb went off in Warrington killing 12 year old Tim Parry and three year old Johnathan Ball. 54 other people were injured in the blast.
It was a day in which the 'Trouble's' of Northern Ireland quite literally hit mainland Britain and Bridge Street in Warrington.
Two bombs were detonated a minute apart from each other, Johnathan Ball died at the scene. Tim suffered serious injuries and his life support machine was switched off five days later.
Tim's father Colin told us: "The whole day is razor sharp, I remember it frame by frame from the moment Tim left to the house until the moment we were told of the terrible thing that happened to him."
He continued: "I lay in his hospital bed and held him and told him I loved him and the machine was switched off. Within moments he stopped breathing. To see your son die in front of you was a numbing moment."
Following the tragedy the Parry's set up The Tim Parry and Johnathan Ball Foundation for Peace, to promote peace and non-violent conflict resolution. They charity estimates they've helped more than 25,000 people by bringing opposite groups together to try and resolve their issues.
Mr Parry said: "Since the foundation's been running a huge number of people have benefitted. It's much harder to hate someone when you've met them."

A victim of the IRA bomb outrage in Warrington in 1993 has had her benefits stripped despite being unable to work because of her injuries.
Liz Antrobus was 22 when she and fiancé Gordon Edwards, then 27, were blown into the air in the second Bridge Street explosion that inflicted horrendous injuries.
They later wed and have a 15-year-old daughter Lucy and son Michael, 7.
The bombings claimed the lives of three-year-old Johnathan Ball and Tim Parry, 12.
Liz, 41, suffered severe injuries to her right leg and left arm, and cannot stand up unaided for long periods of time.
She also suffers from anxiety and depression as a result of the attack, and has been told by her doctor that she is not fit for work.
