Forgive my perhaps newbie post.
I just returned from an extended visit to NY's new 9/11 Memorial while it was open to fellow First Responders and sought this forum to pose one question with accompanying photograph taken inside the Memorial:
I ask this:
The artifact display included various pieces of aircraft(s) but especially the seatbelt shown below:
I ask, in 2001 were any airlines using this style buckle for the safety belts?

I have travelled quite extensively on different airlines and do not recall a safety belt which did not latch and unlatch with a solid aluminum latch rather than a button. This belt reminds me of automotive seatbelts of American '60's.

Presume these "finds" are ones that turned up during the debris search at Freshkills Landfill on Staten Island?

I can't quite see the buckle type from the photo so I can't tell. But if you think that it looks odd then it probably is fake. There's no itemization of the articles as far as I can see. At a crime scene or archaeological dig, you would expect any physical evidence to have, at least, a bag seal and that bag seal referenced to a discovery location. Since Ground Zero was not treated as a crime scene or an archaeological site then all this so much candy floss.
As you can tell from this other thread on the 9/11 museum, http://www.911forum.org.uk/board/viewtopic.php?t=22341
I don't believe that US airline domestic flights had slippers on board.
