How can anyone buy the biggest copper mine in Africa, with less than 4 million (currency not specified)? Well, you bluff, and lie. Won't work? Well, check the following short 4 minute) video clip; there is also a petition you can sign:

Demand Vedanta comes clean

Campaigners in Zambia protest VedantaA leaked video shows the boss of Vedanta, a huge UK listed mining company, bragging about the billions in profit its mine in Zambia makes. But its latest accounts show the opposite; the company making a minimal profit in Zambia and paying very little tax there.

Something doesn’t add up – if Vedanta is making billions in Zambia, why is it paying so little tax?

Zambia is one of the poorest countries in the world, two out of three people live below the poverty line. They desperately need tax revenue to pay for essential public services such as schools and hospitals. Vedanta is a UK owned mining company, so your voice can really influence them.

Email Vedanta boss Anil Agarwal now

Zambian campaigners have already got their government to commit to carrying out an audit of Vedanta’s operations in Zambia. But this isn’t enough. Without transparency of Vedanta’s global operations, it will be impossible to check if they’ve been shifting profits out of Zambia.

Support campaigners in Zambia: send an email to the boss of Vedanta now calling on him to come clean about the company’s operations across the world.

IMO, the Zambian Government ought to nationalise the mine, paying compensation using Vedanta's profit figures, minus fines for buying the mine under false pretences. But I suppose by now there are big political bribes in place.
