A man has been spared jail after battering a mum and dad unconscious in front of their terrified young children. CCTV footage captured the moment Jack Lomas, from North Reddish, Stockport, punches Suzanne Webb so hard it leaves her out cold on the pavement. Gavin and Suzanne Webb were left bloodied and bruised by Lomas on Buxton High Street in Derbyshire on February 24. The parents were targeted while with their children, in what police described as a ‘vicious, unprovoked assault’. Mrs Webb was knocked unconscious and suffered broken teeth, while Mr Webb suffered cuts and bruises in what they said was a ‘living nightmare’. Lomas was given a 34-week jail sentence suspended for twelve months, after admitting two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Mrs Webb was left with numerous facial injuries following the attack (Picture: MEN Media) Footage played in court shows Mr Webb getting up from the floor to confront Lomas a second time before he is again punched to the ground. Speaking after the hearing, the Mr Webb said Lomas approached them after Mrs Webb told a woman not to swear in front of her children in a pub. He said: ‘My Mrs decided to take the kids out of there,’ he said. ‘Lomas ran up to me and said “how are you?” like he was my friend. ‘He got right up close then just smacked me out and my wife, he even squared up to my 12-year-old lad.’ CCTV footage shows Jack Lomas punching the couple unconscious in front of their terrified children (Picture: MEN Media) Magistrates said Lomas must also carry out 180 hours of unpaid work and pay a total of £2,570 to Mr and Mrs Webb, as well as court costs of £200. In a victim impact statement, Mrs Webb said the attack ‘makes me feel sick when I think about it.’ ‘For the first four weeks after our attack we all stayed with my parents because we just didn’t want to go home or be together as a family in our own home, because my children were scared to death and so was I about him coming around,’ she added. ‘It made us all feel very vulnerable and worried, we just wanted to be with people who loved us and to try and take our minds off this living nightmare we were going through. ‘We’ve found it very hard to get back to our normal, happy lives and we’re still struggling till this day.’
