Whilst Animal Rights might seem a stretch for our concerns, it should be understood that those who abuse animals are also the ones who abuse humans.
Many of you will be aware of, and some campaigned against, bullfighting etc. But bullfighting almost pales into insignificance compared to the numbers of animals involved in Nepalese animal sacrifice;
Please support this Compassion in World Farming campaign:

' Tens of thousands of buffalo were corralled into a gigantic pen. Then, 200 slaughtermen wielding swords were let loose into the enclosure. The buffalo were beheaded, one by one. It’s no easy task to behead a buffalo – and for many it took more than one attempt.

These are the reports that came out of the ‘Gadhimai’ Festival in Nepal in 2009, where an estimated quarter of a million farm animals were inhumanely slaughtered as part of the sacrifice festival. ‘Gadhimai’, as the festival is known, is set to take place again this November.

Gadhimai buffalo

Please take action now… before it’s too late for another 250,000 animals.

We need your help. Sign our joint petition with Animal Welfare Network Nepal today.

‘Gadhimai’ takes place every five years in the Bara District of Nepal, south of Kathmandu. For 250 years the festival has continued relatively unchallenged, but as news of the inhumane slaughter has spread internationally, animal welfare advocates have spoken out against it.

The Nepalese Government provides significant funding, which makes this festival possible at its terrifying scale. In 2009 the Government paid over £32,000 for animals to be sacrificed. That’s almost 50 times the minimum Nepalese annual wage.

Please tell the Nepalese Government they must stop funding this cruelty!

Compassion in World Farming is working closely with Animal Welfare Network Nepal to fight this festival. We’re supporting grass-roots work in the local community to create a groundswell of resistance but we need your help to apply international pressure on the Nepalese Government.

Please take action now… before it’s too late for another 250,000 animals.

Thank you for your support,

Pru Elliott
Campaign & Investigations Officer

I wondered where 'Blackwater' or whatever they call themselves now do their training.

VIDEO: PETA Supporter Rushes to Try and Help Dying Bull in Marbella Bullring:
http://www.peta.org.uk/blog/video-peta-supporter-rushes-to-assistance- of-dying-bull-in-bullring/?utm_campaign

'Amina, who lives in Spain but hails from Sweden, couldn’t just stand by and watch the bloody spectacle unfolding before her at a bullfight in Marbella in southern Spain.

Amina Bullfighting Protest

Summoning all her courage, she sprinted into the bullring to try and offer her sympathy to the animal who lay, frightened and bleeding, on the ground. She also carried a sign saying, “Stop Bullfighting”, to make sure her message was not lost on the spectators – although, as you can see in the video, the bullring was virtually empty.

She said of her exploit:

'No animal should have to face an agonizing, needless death for the amusement of a crowd. I’m joining with PETA to urge caring people everywhere to end these bloody, internationally condemned events by never patronising bullfights.

During the Spanish bullfighting season, thousands of frightened bulls are killed by armed men, slowly, painfully and always in front of a jeering audience. Many humans have perished in these archaic events this year, too – at least 12 people died after being gored this summer.

We’re calling for an end to this carnage. Join us – sign our petition to the Prime Minister of Spain asking him to ban bullfights and bull runs:

Canadian Seal Slaughter:
http://www.peta.org/issues/animals-used-for-clothing/fur/canadian-seal -slaughter/

'Each year, the Canadian government gives hunters the green light to bludgeon to death hundreds of thousands of baby harp seals. During the slaughter, baby seals are shot or repeatedly clubbed. Sealers bludgeon the animals with clubs and “hakapiks” (metal-hook–tipped clubs) and drag the seals—who are often still conscious—across the ice floes with boat hooks.

Hunters toss dead and dying seals into heaps and leave their carcasses to rot on the ice floes because there is no market for seal meat. Veterinarians who have investigated the slaughter have found that hunters routinely fail to comply with Canada’s animal welfare standards.

Baby seals are helpless and have no way to escape from the sealers’ clubs. A Washington Post article on the seal slaughter described it this way: “[A] seal appearing to gasp for air, blood running from its nose as it lies on an ice floe. Not far away, a sealer sharpens his knife blade. The seal seems to be thrashing as its fur is sliced from its torso.”

The Christian Science Monitor wrote: “The few terrified survivors, left to crawl through the carnage. The shouted obscenities and threats from the sealers, gunfire cracking ominously in the distance. The pitiful cries of the pups; the repellent thuds of clubs raining down on soft skulls. Sealers’ laughter echoing across the ice floes.”

Many seals who are killed are 3 months old or younger. Many have not yet learned how to swim or eaten their first solid meals.

The sealing industry claims that it is killing more seals because of an increased demand for fur. Although the U.S. banned the sale of seal fur in 1972, anyone wearing the fur of minks, rabbits, foxes, or any other kind of animal is responsible for creating a demand for fur, which pushes Canadian hunters to club more seals each year. Then in 2009, the European Union voted to end the sale of seal products, and the U.S. Senate unanimously passed U.S. Senate Resolution 84, calling for an immediate end to the annual seal slaughter.

Please tell everyone you know about Canada’s cruel slaughter of baby seals and urge them to contact the Canadian government to ask for an immediate end to this cruel slaughter.

Documentary that sparked militant vegan protests is 'too scary to watch'

A documentary that's been used to inspire protests against farmers by militant vegans has been described as being so scary that viewers are unable to watch it in its entirety.

Dominion, an Australian documentary released in 2018, uses drone footage and hidden cameras to film farms. The documentary was deliberately filmed to inspire a new generation of more militant vegans to target farms, farming and meat production.

One of the key demands of vegan protesters who attempted to shut down Melbourne is that the documentary be compulsory viewing for all children over 15 in schools.

Viewers of the film said they have been left confronted, shocked and disturbed by the documentary.

'Got six minutes into Dominion and that's all I could cope with,' one person wrote on social media after watching the start of the film.

'Tears streaming down my face, want to vomit.'

Another said: 'I had to turn off Dominion it was too disturbing and I was already vegan anyway so didn't need the heartache.'

I cried all the way through it and I've never eaten meat in my life, I felt I needed to bare witness. It's really f***ing intense,' another viewer said.

'I think it should be mandatory viewing. It's really hard to get through but I've sat through it a few times as I was showing others,' a watcher of the film said.

Another said: 'I believe it should be compulsory viewing for all omnivores.'

The documentary showed animals been thrown around, attempting to run away from farmers and being hit with sticks.

Other scenes showed the living conditions of animals on farms - while claiming they are often mistreated and abused.

Director Chris Delforce also runs militant vegan group 'Aussie Farms' and has led protests against farming in Australia.

Melbourne was brought to a standstill by 100 activists sitting on tram tracks in April while others in rural New South Wales and Queensland invaded farms and chained themselves to abattoir machinery.

Mr Delforce also developed Aussie Farms controversial interactive map, which names and shames farmers and reveals their addresses, phone numbers and even photos.

The organisation - a registered charity - was recently branded a 'despicable attack map for activists' by Agriculture Minister David Littleproud following a spate of vigilante acts.

Mr Delforce told Sunrise that nobody supports animal cruelty but people buy meat because they don't know about the processes involved in farming.

He said that farmers should show images of their pigs being gassed to death so customers can better understand where their food comes from.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted the filmmakers for comment.

The militant vegan behind protests across Australia has said he became an animal rights activist to make up for his 'white, male, middle-class privilege'.

Chris Delforce, the director of animal rights documentary Dominion, runs the group Aussie Farms, which protests across Australia.

Melbourne was brought to a standstill by 100 activists sitting on tram tracks while others in rural New South Wales and Queensland invaded farms and chained themselves to abattoir machinery.

Mr Delforce, a web developer, used to volunteer for poverty relief charities and travelled to Zanzibar and Indonesia to promote human rights before turning his attention to animal rights.

In a newspaper interview on Wednesday, he said he felt a duty to help because of his privileged background.

'As a white male in a middle-class upbringing, a lot in life is pretty much handed to me,' Mr Delforce told The Australian.

'As a person who has it pretty easy in life, I think it's my responsibility to do as much as I can to use my opportunities.'

Mr Delforce made similar comments at the protests in Melbourne, saying: 'As someone born into a position of considerable opportunity and privilege, I have a moral opportunity to do whatever I can to help those less fortunate than myself.'

Born in Canberra, Mr Delforce has been an activist in Melbourne for nine years and even ran for the Animal Justice Party in last year's Victorian election.

He is the brains behind the controversial Aussie Farms interactive map, which names and shames livestock farmers and details their addresses, photos and even business numbers.

The organisation - a registered charity - was recently branded a 'despicable attack map for activists' by Agriculture Minister David Littleproud following a spate of vigilante acts against farms.

Mr Delforce protested in Melbourne on Monday, telling reporters the event was about 'making as much noise as we can' for animal rights.

'The industry is telling people these animals are being killed ethically, that they are being killed humanely - the reality is... it's the furthest thing from humane,' he said.
