Seven held in Miami on terrorism charges in alleged plot to blow up the Sears Tower
I realise that this has issue already been raised in the thread, Ceefax page 112: Arrests made in "chicago plot" but I have just been to the Bahamas where virtually the only available media is American and this story is huge - I felt that it needed a bump with a new title to get noticed. Here are just two links:
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,200677,00.html
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/06/22/AR2006 062201546.html
The seven men, some with petty criminal records, had established some kind of organisation which met in a disused storeroom in a very poor area of Miami, Liberty City. They had no money and no resources. Members of one of their families claimed that they were all involved in helping the community. Though the media are claiming that they are all Muslim, interviews with community members suggest that most were Christian. Any 'links' with 'Al Quaida' were via the FBI infiltrator who allegedly secured an oath of allegiance to Al Quaida and promised material support. This could only be interpreted as incitement.
The already over stimulated US media lost no opportunity to raise its scaremongering with this story and Bill O'Reilly and his like made enormous capital on its back. One of the men, Stanley Grant Phanor is known by his family as 'Sunni' and to the group as 'Brother Sunni' - much has been made of this even though his mother, a Haitian Roman Catholic, says she gave him the nickname. Comparisons are made with the recent raid in London, though the outcome never gets a mention, of course. |

Should be interesting to watch this plot disintegrate.
Doesn't Larry Silverstein own the Sears tower? Don't tell me he is not insurance blacklisted. _________________ www.wytruth.org.uk

An interesting (as almost always) skit on 'The Daily Show' tonight, and it's repeated at 00.05 was the revelation on the terror arrest of 7 individuals
of a religious cult type thing(name escapes) who were accused of plotting.... frig it I can't be bothered to explain here but it's a very funny demolition of the news headline makers and FBI/CIA claims of terror in Chicago, Sears tower "attack"
More4 @ 00.05 the first 12 minutes. |

Is that the "correct" spelling? How about Sonny? Isn't that the more usual way? |
