Having seen the video of Gypsy Taub, I have been rethinking of some of the ideas I have had for actions. There are plenty of things we can do as individuals but some ideas require a bit of strategy and co-ordination - plus an element of secrecy.

I have one particular idea which I'd like to implement but it would take a small task force to carry out along with some creative thinking.

Perhaps something along the line of a Colditz escape officer? Somebody who could put people with relevant skills and geographic locations in touch with each other.

And what about a skill database? Not necessarily a public domain resource but somebody could act as a kind of employment agency. I think this is important not only so that peoples' skills can be exploited but also so that peoples' skills are not over exploited. I say this because one of the reasons I backed off last year was that I was feeling burned out at being called upon (not necessarily through this movement) to do too much.

I think this isn't just about skills either. People have different levels of commitment, which should be respected. At last year's G8 protests action groups were formed on this basis. For example, some people were prepared to be arrested whilst others were not. Likewise, some people - like Gypsy Taub - might feel OK about using their voices in public. Some people (like me) don't - that should be respected.

If nothing else, I'd like to talk to people, particularly in the north of England, who are quite energetic and with time on their hands.

I have quite a bit of recruitment experience so would happily utilise those skills for the good of the movement. Will be a good way to distribute campaigning as you said Flamesong and stop us relying on the same faces doing all the active work.

Maybe I am just a bit bored with the strategy of leafleting etc. but I think that there are much more interesting and original ways to get the message out there.

I have just reminded myself of an action idea I had a couple of years ago. I feel that it is a bit too sensitive an idea to make public but desperately want to share it with others.

Can we have a private, members only by invitation (perhaps) are on here to discuss these ideas? Perhaps anybody interested in more direct action might be interested in going to the Earth First! Summer Gathering where there will be all kinds of action workshops:
