Mike Stagman has also sent us a Word file of draft leaflet which he hopes someone may get printed and campaign with. The Word file contains images and layout which will not reproduce in this forum, but if anyone would like to take a look at the Word file, please send me a PM or e-mail requesting it.
Mike reckons that the points raised in this draft can be used by campaigners in their letters.

LOST FREEDOM:
Blair-Brown-New Labour's methodical destruction of British Democracy
Using Scaremongering propaganda to create a climate of fear, the New Labour Government has been cunningly subverting British liberties and democracy, methodically establishing a police state in Britain. When citizens lose their freedoms, then unpopular corporate policies can be executed without effective opposition (e.g. the Iraq war, GM food and crops, the continuing surrender of British sovereignty to the European Union empire, etc.)
New Labour has wrongfully, with strong Tory support -- Set about destroying the checks and balances of British democracy via ministerial despotism in the House of Commons, dismembering and stacking the House of Lords, attacking the independence of the Judiciary, intimidating and emasculating the BBC (which intervened in the May national election by sending hecklers with microphones to disrupt Michael Howard's speech at a Conservative Party meeting -- the BBC really did this !!)
--- Waged an illegal war of aggression in Iraq, a war which so far has killed over 100,000 civilians, employed a long chain of deceptions and lies, whitewash, then greywash, culminating in an all-party contingent of MPs filing a motion of Impeachment against Blair
--- Held the Citizenry in contempt by ignoring public opinion and pushing unpopular policies by hook-and-crook; employing propaganda techniques as a matter of course
-- destroyed our sacred right of privacy, instituting widespread government spying through electronic surveillance, email spying, and postal intercepts
--- instituted the tyrannical practise of indefinite detention without trial, followed by control and banning orders
--- menaces our treasured trial by jury and presumed innocence, and wants to have secret trials before hand-picked judges,
--- Waged war against lawful political critics, using the police to harass, silence and punish those who oppose New Labour policies
--- Got the Judiciary to approve torture, against international law and all civilised values
--- announced its desire to bring all UK police constabularies under central government control and establish a British FBI which will swear allegiance to the Government, not to the Crown (which represents the British People and Constitution). No democracy can live with such a concentration of police power in a few hands.
--- is intent on instituting an ID card (easily forged, ideal for identity theft which can wipe you out, useless for crime prevention purposes) with unreliable biometrics (including eyesight-endangering iris scans), at an average cost to each taxpayer of £500 (total cost: £20B, The Times 22-12-04) which will contain a microchip linked to a central database which can detail everything known about your private and public life -- a totalitarian tool the Nazis would have envied
--- engaged in electoral fraud that would (in the words of Judge Richard Mawrey) "shame a banana republic". (The Independent, 5 April 2005); Voting fraud must not be tolerated.
--- Pushed through a spineless and self-serving Parliament the unconscionable Civil Contingencies Act (18 November 04) which will give Government Ministers dictatorial power in an Emergency.
Conclusion -- The construction of a police state has come a long way under Blair-Brown New Labour (strongly supported by the Conservative Party). Nothing justifies this, even if their scaremongering were based on concrete evidence, which it is not. (Sept 11 and the London bombings were NOT as governments claim them to be.) The "war on terrorism" is bogus -- a cover for police state actions.
Important Note: During the entirety of World War II and the Northern Ireland "Troubles", no one even dared to propose the liberty-destroying Acts and fiats engineered by New Labour. Every law-abiding citizen and family is threatened by an anti-democratic political order.
What Exactly We Can Do About It
in a little Spare-Time
1. Insist that a Vote of No Confidence be held against the New Labour Government. [Any MP can file such a motion.]
2. To avoid electoral fraud, insist on ballot box voting only. Postal voting (except for those physically incapable) and electronic voting must be prohibited.
3. Encourage democracy within Parliament by severely limiting the scope of ministerial edicts and statutory instruments.
4. Restore our lost democratic rights and liberties --- Start by repealing all the Terrorism Acts and the Civil Contingencies Act.
5. Do not be fooled by scaremongering propaganda. Be sceptical of scare stories blared by the BBC and newspapers. Beware of any Emergency called for under the Civil Contingencies Act. Denounce this Act and demand it be repealed.
6. Citizen Watchdog Committees to oversee the operations of government --- establish them
7. Put an end to Money Politics and Thought Control. Corporate money given directly or indirectly to a political party or politician is a bribe. All major media, especially the BBC, must give adequate coverage to all shades of political opinion.
8. Referenda -- (a) All important legislation should be ratified or vetoed by popular referendum. (b) As in California and Oregon, USA, the British People should have the right to initiate legislative proposals and vote on their proposed law in a referendum.
THEREFORE, to pursue the above, consider doing some of the following, in a little spare-time, on a weekly basis as part of an ethical life-style:
1. Write Letters-to-the-Editor of local, regional and national media.
2. MPs ---telephone/write to your MP. Definitely best, however, is to form small delegations of 2, 3, or 4 persons, make an appointment to meet with him/her and, armed with some information (the MP may well not have it) visit your MP and put your points across. Please do this if you possibly can.
[If your MP proves himself/herself to be part of the problem, then publicise this.]
3. Inform others (family, friends, associates, groups), and ask them to do the same thing you are doing. (Word-of-mouth is terribly important.) Pass them these information-sheets. PLEASE take personal responsibility for communicating this to 10 persons.
4. Direct Action --- There are many ways to publicise good causes, and to condemn, ridicule and pressure public enemies.
NEVER think your influence is insignificant because government representatives and experienced organisations know that, whilst one person takes the time to contact them, hundreds more share those views yet lack the initiative to contact them. So You, dear reader, equal perhaps 500, or more.
In conclusion, the preservation of British Liberties and Democracy depends on YOU and ME. This is a test of British character.
