All,
My sad lonely love of reading NIST reports has come up trumps again.
See attached image of page 118
"NIST NCSTAR1-3c"
"DAMAGE & FAILURE MODES OF STRUCTURAL STEEL COMPONENTS"
They admit that the much vaunted "pre collapse buckling proof" actually happened DURING the collapse NOT before it.
Hence the building was NOT showing critical weakening due to fire and plane damage BEFORE the collapse.
STICK THAT IN YOUR PIPE AND SMOKE IT.

| Nice find. They’re their own worst enemy. Looks likes it’s time to re-explain & re-write the official story with yet another explanation for the umpteenth time.

snowy, what was shown in the "previous figure" mentioned?
Might they be being specific to this one corner when saying no distortion?

Here is the page prior to the one I posted.
There does not appear to be any referenece before or after suggesting that the statement about no pre-collapse bucking only applied to this small part of building and that the rest DID buckle first.
