9/11 Widows Group Decries Pentagon Call for Closed Judiciary Hearings on Able Danger
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 11th Advocates Statement
Regarding Senate Judiciary "Able Danger" Hearing
September 19, 2005
We were stunned to learn that the Pentagon is calling for the Senate hearing regarding "Able Danger" scheduled for Wednesday, September 21st, to be closed to the public.
Recall that Able Danger was the data mining operation run out of the Defense Intelligence Agency that allegedly identified four of the 9/11 hijackers one year prior to the attacks. There has been much controversy surrounding these findings and their significance cannot be overstated. This information, relating to Able Danger, changes the entire 9/11 "story" and would therefore impact many of the 9/11 Commission’s recommendations. After attempting to seek the truth for four years, it would be a travesty to keep the facts surrounding this operation from the public. The insistence on secrecy by governmental agencies only makes their motives suspect and ultimately serves to keep the American public at risk.

Pentagon deep-sixes 9/11 probe
Wednesday, September 21, 2005 - 08:17 AM
DAILY NEWS WASHINGTON BUREAU -- Wednesday, September 21st, 2005
New York Daily News - http://www.nydailynews.com
WASHINGTON - The Pentagon yesterday ordered military officials not to testify before a Senate panel probing their claims that several 9/11 hijackers had been identified as terrorists long before the attacks, government sources said.
The officials, including at least two uniformed officers and several civilian Defense Department workers and defense contractors, were all expected to appear today at a hearing looking into the "Able Danger" program - a session the Pentagon wanted closed to the public, the sources told the Daily News. ---

WASHINGTON -- Sept. 11 family members are protesting a reported Pentagon attempt to close this week's Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on a claim that military intelligence had lead hijacker Mohammed Atta in its sights as early as 1999.
"They want to sweep it under the rug," said Joan Molinaro, a former Eltingville resident, whose firefighter son was killed at Ground Zero.
"They have been denying this Atta thing up, down and sideways for weeks," she said. "And now they want to cover it up." Bruce DeCell of Dongan Hills, who lost a son-in-law and cousin at the World Trade Center, said he has wearied of attempts by government officials to suppress 9/11-related information. "They always plead national security," he said. "But 9/11 was about national security and 3,000 people died because they let it happen."
"It would be a travesty to keep the facts surrounding this operation from the public," said Kristen Breitweiser of New Jersey, who lost her husband at Ground Zero. ---
