Met chief says new attack in London is "inevitable"

Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Ian Blair has said another terrorist attack in London is inevitable.

He said the force had since foiled three further attacks but the strength of Londoners meant the city would survive future assaults.

He said the much criticised anti-terror raid in Forest Gate last month had been his lowest point since the bombings.

Sir Ian was speaking on the first anniversary of the 7 July bombings, carried out by four men from Yorkshire.

He said: "I think there will be further attacks, in fact I know there will be further attacks.

Since Blair is a native English speaker, we can assume he is not fumbling for words. He disqualifies in advance the notion that he has fluffed his line by insisting that he doesn't 'think there will be another terrorist attack' but that he knows this. There can be no doubt, therefore, that he is either colluding with the 'terrorists', or indeed that he is the terrorist.
But there again, this man is a proven serial liar (in public), so perhaps we need not read too much into the froth that issues from this thoroughly unpleasant character.
