Do you remember Woodward and Bernstein? How about Murrow, Biko? Let me know if any of these ring a bell. Do you remember those lofty ideals you proudly carried when you entered your chosen profession? Do you recall when you were not afraid to investigate, to ask hard questions and ferret out the truth, to see beyond your paycheck? Do you remember when you couldn’t care less what you were labeled, as long as you doggedly pursued the truth? Do you have any sense of purpose left? Can you still smell a story?
I dare you to tackle 9/11. Come on. Too scared of losing your job? Reputation, prestige, access? Stossel, Palast, Olbermann?? What the hell are you so afraid of? You want fame, an eternal legacy? You want the ultimate story? It’s right in front of your nose. It’s currently being written by on a shoestring by Alex Jones, David Ray Griffin, Daniel Hopsicker and other heroes who have the guts to risk everything for the sake of truth, for our future as a nation.
Yeah, go ahead and tell me you read the 9/11 Commission report. You watched the PBS special by the MIT guy explaining the 3 fragile, pancaking towers. Tell me you believe them. I dare you. Read the official NIST report on the collapse of WTC 7. If you don’t have a twinge of doubt, of incredulity, then you’re not worthy of your paycheck, or your job title.
What’s necessary is an altering of perception, a leap of consciousness if you would. The essential question is "Do you believe the leaders of this great nation would be this diabolical, this Machiavellian to allow or even carry out these attacks?" If you’re a true investigative reporter, you know that people lie, cheat, steal, and kill. You understand that it’s even easier to get away with when you own the mythology. A story is told, and people believe it; they need to believe it. Americans need to feel protected in their consumer bubble. The 9/11 attacks were the perfect story, the ultimate excuse for venting our long-repressed righteous national rage. It seemed so clear cut- we were brutally attacked, let’s roll. Our nation, reeling from an overdose of nuance and moral ambiguity, finally found the perfect villain. It was WWE on steroids, good versus evil, and we lapped it up.
Now, five years later, the 9/11 Truth movement, previously hidden in Internet obscurity, now makes headlines. A 9/11-skeptic panel discussion airs on C-Span. Former GHW Bush , Reagan, and GW Bush administrative officials call it an inside job. Scholars for 9/11 Truth, an ad hoc group of leading academics draws sophomoric insults from Bush apologists in the mainstream press. They ridicule rather than debate. They insult rather than investigate. They doth protesteth too much, wouldn’t you say?
So guys, do you have the courage to stand up to power? To investigate without a fore drawn conclusion? We need you. We need you to see what we see. Not holographic projections of ghost planes, not alien scalar demolition, but an unbelievably implausible official story, rife with glaring inconsistencies and outright lies. It’s the story of a lifetime begging to be written. I dare you. |
