Hi all

DVD recorders have dropped conciderably in price of late, and it's a very simple job to either replace you existing cd/dvd drive with one, add another one or to buy an external one and start copying and distributing your own DVD's. I have copied over 400 so far.

http://misco.co.uk/categories/~510~/Internal.htm This will take you to a list of current DVD burners and prices (Internal) you have to fit these inside your machine.

http://misco.co.uk/categories/~511~/External.htm This will take you to a list of External DVD burners and you connect them (most of them) Via a USB port.

http://ukdvdr.co.uk/shop/DVD-R-c-260.html DVD-r I usually use this type and they work on most systems.

http://ukdvdr.co.uk/shop/DVD+R-c-261.html DVD+r.

http://ukdvdr.co.uk/shop/Datasafe-Inline-Pack-Matt-Labels-pr-17205.htm l Labels for you to print your message.

http://ukdvdr.co.uk/shop/Single-CD-DVD-envelope-+-window-50-PACK-pr-17 460.html DVD wallets to protect them when giving them out.

Feel free to e-mail me should you need to know any more.

I believe that we now have to push this harder and showing people the evidence via DVD seems as good a way as any to me!

Tips from personal experience - 123 of burning:

1. Buy good quality burners

Examples:

i. Pioneer (excellent and superb value for money) - DVR-111 a good starter

http://www.misco.co.uk/search/~pioneer+dvd~/index.htm

ii. Plextor (more expensive and also excellent - external USB2/firewire units available and can be "stacked" for multiple, simultaneous burns)

Note: Try to use latest firmware updates from manufacturer

2. Always use good quality media

Cheap and nasty media will lead to tears - not worth the effort and money finding out why.

Examples:

i. Verbatim - best imho
ii. Sony
iii. TDK

Always use DVD-R for best compatibility across all types of DVD player.

Try: http://www.cd-rmedia.co.uk

3. Use good quality burning software

Examples:

i. Nero Burning ROM - version 6.6.0.18 best imho - Ultra version for multi-burns (Windows)

Download: http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_burning_rom/tech/?539 [no Yahoo toolbar - no_yt - version]

ii. Alcohol 120% (Windows)

Tip: Use "Disc At Once" burn option where possible.

I use (1)[i] + (2)[i] + (3)[i] and *never* burn coasters or media that goes bad within a few years (to date.) (1)[ii] + (2)[i] + (3)[i] also tested perfectly so far. I burn at top speeds supported by media/drive to speed up duplication and have never had any problems on that front.
