So it appears (if we can take anything that Musharraf says at face value) that suburbia's favourite pantomime villain is really a decent, upright spook after all. And there was I thinking he was just a sadistic decapitator of liberal hacks! Sighs of relief all round then (except, I suspect, in one or two of inner London's more radical mosques - but there again, how many of the faithful there do a dead letter drop after Friday prayers?)
A few weeks ago I warned a few impressionable types on this board that Lyndon LaRouche's MO had 'CIA nark' stamped all over it (wealthy east coast Yankee Trotskyist, repeatedly splitting student movements in the '60's, the drift rightward and infiltration of the Democratic Party, his cult movement The Schiller Institute' and the murky activities of his second wife, Zepp).
More recently, I have cast a gimlet eye over local citizens to see which of them exhibit the tell tale signs of the double life. And I think I have found an unusual suspect. He fancies himself as a bit of an orator, has a penchant for exotic business dealings and always wins his libel suits.
He is a man who deserves the utmost Respect... |

Is he rumoured to be errr... gorgeous?
So what's his double life then? Or have I missed the point of the post? (as usual) |

If you're talking about who I think you are, it does go some way to explaining something that's puzzled me for a while now.
He says all the right things regarding a central issue of our time, and can put it across forcefully and eloquently.
And yet, I find I can't actively support him (not his position) because something that I can't define is not quite right. Other people have commented on this too, but I always disregarded it because they were more pro the other party to the conflict, and even I notice he comes across as vain and obnoxious.
I'd look forward to further news (in some form - fiction?) if and when you are ready to share it |

My suspicions about GG are based on decades of observation of intelligence penetration of left/liberal organisations. In my experience two types stand out:
1) The straight establishment man who once held radical ideas (Paddy Ashdown is the best example of this - probably the first party leader to have served as an MI6 officer).
2) The 'bogey man' (narcissistic, decadent demagogue - Tom Driberg best example here)
No prizes for guessing which category GG falls into! His involvement in the Miriam appeal which brought him into contact with Palestinian organisations penetrated by MOSSAD, his associations with Abu Abbas (who has almost certainly been on the CIA payroll for many years) his business dealing with Iraq through Chalabi and his previous unfettered access to Saddam (well to his double or triple at any rate) all taken together do raise eyebrows.
Another thing is his demeanour - the wild eyed flamboyance, the overblown rhetoric, the cult of personality. He's a throwback to the 1930's. The man's an actor.
Finally, GG is a conspcicuous consumer. He has no inhibitions about flaunting the trappings of wealth, power and influence. Most high profile socialists tend to be somewhat reserved about confessing this particular and very personal crisis of praxis. GG is shameless in this Respect (arf! arf!).
'Tis the singer not the song, folks. But maybe I need to hear him sing his encore to be sure... |
