Deception 20's fool a village shop keeper

Someone has just related the following story to me:

I gave a friend a few Deception 20's - she passed them onto her friend who runs a pub. One of the staff at the pub, is apparently, not the sharpest too in the box. He picked up the notes.

He said to the Pub owner - "OO! I am gonna spend these!"
She said "Don't be stupid - you can't"

Undeterred, he trotted off to the local village shop to spend the fake money...

A few minutes later, he returned - with some goods. The pub owner then ran to the shop to pay with real money. But it was too late...

Only AFTER he had LEFT the shop did the shop owner notice TONY BLAIR'S FACE ON BOTH SIDES OF THE NOTES and then she called the Police...

It will be interesting to see who the Police laugh at the most - especially as there is a postal address on the notes showing who made them.

Will it make the local paper?

Between us lot - I'd handed them to about five shop keepers for a laugh, they all noticed immediately and I let them keep the note.

I downed the drink and left swiftly.

Oh dear - it's all coming out now.... I am not sure I agree with your motives Ally. These breweries tend to screw the pub owners, or so I understand.

Mind you, as a tee-totaller, I get doubly ripped off by drinks prices in pubs - there is no duty on soft drinks, yet they are usually even more expensive by volume than alcholic ones - work that one out someone...!

David, who had the notes printed, and who has of course had his collar felt already about these notes, once had someone try to pass him one back at one of his exhibitions ( tucked under a genuine 20 of course ) as payment for some goods.

A good way to use them is to make a transaction, pay normally, get given the change, and then say "would you like some more?" and offer the "deception" (with a jaunty flourish). the mind fuse from jumping the "script" coupled with the cashiers reaction to the "deception" is always priceless

I prefer the Tommy Cooper method.

Alledgedly, he used to tip taxi drivers by tucking something into their shirt pocket saying "Have a drink on me." The passenger was long gone by the time the chuffed cabby emptied their pocket to discover the tea bag.

I've handed these to a number of shopkeepers, and those in 'alternative' establishments have been the ones most ready to put them in the till without properly looking, so I've had to stay their hand
These people from organic or hippy shops are the ones I've had the most negative reaction from when finding they were so easily conned.
The more regular concerns take a look and break up laughing

Ive paid with them in lots of shops where i know the person behind the till and they always fall for it, have to quickly say no look at it, check the sites etc and then pay for real. I know quite a few ive handed out have been used though sadly. Had various skaters i know ask me for more to use on tour etc.
After immortal technique we all got totally bombed with people demanding more, many will of used them i think and thats not good.
They can be a lot of fun, ive handed em to people saying "free money" and had them say "no, surely not, why?, really? nah i cant" etc for a few minutes in some cases then they finally look properly, turn red, laugh and disappear quicksharp.

The deception notes are one of the best tools for getting out web sites to people. This is how I found this site, although I had been reading books about the lie of 911 since late 2002.
When I hand out the £20's I get a good response, even if its only a laugh.

Saying that I'm not sure that giving them to shop keepers or alike is the best idea, even if you tell them straight away.
I manage a bar and we have a big problem with counterfit notes all the time. The staff have a responsibilty to check the money and are under pressure to make sure that the till balances at the end of the shift.
Making them look stupid or putting them in difficult positions is not the way to promote the movement.
