I can't understand why a science publication indulges in such rhetoric.

I get the impression that most people on this forum are fairly reasonable and want to know what really happened. Does that make us part of the conspiracy industry with our paranoia?

If I can find the story again, there was a 'coup' at the old and respected PM which turned it into a recruiting tool for the military a few months before their original 'debunk' article appeared.

The new editor is a cousin (which he tried to deny - why would anyone do that??) of Homeland Security's Michael Chertoff.
