It sure does make you wonder about their 'motivation'.
But their increasing reliance on the ad hominem mode can only be read as a sign of desperation, and that's a good thing.

Let's hope today is the beginning of a positive change in the world.

What they do very well is infuriate anyone who would actually want to debate.

The frequency of fallacious arguments is astonishing for which they are let off far too lightly for. In contrast they are incredibly quick to point out any illogical appeals or strawmen used against them.

A great way to save energy attempting to debate these time wasters is to familiarise oneself with some of the most common logical fallacies committed in arguments and then simply point these out.

I simply don't have the energy to embroil myself with such futile pursuits.

I looked in on this thread last night. I'm afraid it looked like a black hole into which my energy would pour so I kept my distance.

I admire your spirits for getting stuck in but it is like trying to do a jig-saw with a pit bull terrier chewing your leg. I suppose animal lovers would say you can't blame the dog but I think it would be a relief if a vet would put the beast out of its miserable delusion.

Hello Quinn, how you doing mate?

As a brief response to everyone's comments here, I put this up on the "morons" thread earlier today

Quote:
I don't feel either "side" should be under any illusion that anyone is convincing anybody of anything

As I have said in the past, the only benefit in debating critics is gaining experience in arguments that one will encounter elsewhere: few are such hardcore deniers as this JREF crowd, and most debaters on most forums are far more reasonable, provided a campaigner can avoid becoming frustrated: on occasion though, I am dismayed by the emotional disconnect shown in the attitudes of critics, especially when they consider mass murder in the middle east against innocents to be serving the interests of the victims of this terrible crime: but then , that is the same shriveled and retarded empathy shown by the criminals themselves

And I thought i'd bring this particular little slice of critics world to everyone's attention last night as a way of illustrating this disconnect for all those with eyes to see: I also definately in no way think anyone has to engage critics in conversation

The old adage of ‘It takes two to tango’ rings true after;

‘There are times, after talking to critics, that....’

If no-one ever responded to critics, then they’d soon lose interest.

It sure does make you wonder about their 'motivation'.

Nope, the motivation is these type of threads.

Exactly!

I tried a few post with Jay ref a few months ago and never tried again. Totally pointless.
It seems to me that some of us who wanted to ban them from this site are the same guys/girls that just cant keep away from critics corner.

If they have nobody to wind up with their 'merry-go-round' arguments they will eventually leave this site, no need to ban them.
Or am I just being hopefull again?
