Anyone catch this tucked away on page 30 of Saturday's Mirror. Shame they don't supply the coppers name who gave the speech, I wonder what else he said. These comments caught my attention, "I have seen the CCTV, they don't appear to be on their way to commit a crime." !!!!!
29 October 2005
BOMBINGS COST COPS £77MILLION
POLICING for the July 7 and 21 bombings has so far cost £77million, a senior police officer revealed at a conference on counter-terrorism.
And he said none of the four July 7 bombers was a typical terrorist.
He said Aldgate bomber Shehzad Tanweer, 22, played cricket the night before and argued with a petrol station cashier on the way to London.
He told the conference in Preston, Lancs: "This is not the behaviour of a terrorist. You would think this is normal.
"I have seen the CCTV footage. They do not appear to be on their way to commit any crime."
He said Tanweer was 22 and Russell Square bomber Hasib Hussain 18, adding: "We've been told in the past the normal age for a terrorist is about 30.
"The reality is that the profile is totally wrong." (the reality is the accusations are false IMO)
