Great idea. I bumped into a chap at Nafeed Ahmed's talk in London who cycles with one of thes on his back - most impressive.

I am appaled at the price though !

I designed one of these in the early 80's for a few quid !

Edit: It was only a 10 x 8 grid, mono not 700 tri colour LEDs which at Maplin are 54p each and these units use about 700 so I have eaten my hat.

you can get super bright leds off ebay quite cheaply.
it's the electronics behind it which is a bit more difficult.

you can get one for £40 but it's no good in daylight.
