Interesting. There's a few things that come to mind.
1. These server centres are normally HIGHLY secured, people can't just wonder in and out. This could either help or hinder the perps greatly, but assuming they needed extra explosives at the crash sites (as mentioned) then this is a nice way to drastically reduce the chances of their discovery.
2. The point about a homing device doesn't really ring true, as these could be anything as small as a PDA. Size is not an issue with such a device. So that could be concealed rather easily anywhere in the building if it was required.
3. Datacentres usually also have their own power generators, air conditioning and other bulky utility backup devices. The sheer bulk of datacentre equipment and floorspace used is significantly greater than the average office. If I was required to slow down a plane, in the shortest time possible I'd crash into a datacentre . _________________ "Thought is faster than arrows, and truth is sharper than blades." - David Gemmell | RealityDown wiki |

I agree. Before 9/11 and with Lockerbie in mind, I would have said that crashing into the ground would have been the quickest way to stop a plane... but after hearing that Flight 93 was spread over miles, I changed my mind |

And if we are feeling rational, it's probably worth noting that the WTC's had LOTS of data centers in them, owned by lots of big businesses. Not sure how many, but at a wild guess i'd say four or five in each building, covering a floor or so each. _________________ "Thought is faster than arrows, and truth is sharper than blades." - David Gemmell | RealityDown wiki |
