Quote: | The location has changed for the Divine Strake Jan. 10, 2007, Salt Lake City public information session scheduled by the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) and the U.S. Department of Energy National Nuclear Security Administration Nevada Site Office (NNSA/NSO). Energy Solutions Arena management informed DTRA and NNSA/NSO on Jan. 8, 2007, that they are unable to support the event. |

The media is just barely waking up to properly address the nature and purpose which is documented in the Pentagon's own papers for the 700 ton chemical explosion set for the Nevada Testing Site sometime after Feb 1. If they mention the purpose of Divine Strake, they make the purpose seem as speculation. There is no real speculation about its purpose. We know what it is for. The fiscal 2006 documents state it. This is a test for nuclear weapons. There is also no way physically possible to deliver a conventional 700 ton explosive to a target by aircraft or by missile.
Divine Strake is a threat to everyone in the state of Utah and Nevada, but the threat extends to every American. This is not an understatement. Even if the soil wasn't radioactive, which it is, this is a precursor to MORE nuclear weapon testing. We do not want to be downwinders as we are in the 50s and 60s and plagued by cancer and radiation diseases. They knew back then that it was dangerous, but told us instead that we have nothing to worry about. It is good reason that we remain skeptical of any analysis that comes from the Pentagon instead of from an independent group.
It is also is a precedent to begin developing first-strike, not last resort nuclear weapons. This will lead us into nuclear warfare, not divert it. It will renew a nuclear arm race that will be for first-strike strategy, not for a deterrent strategy. Whether you agree with that or not, it also means renewed nuclear weapon testing. And who is going to pay the toll for it this time around? Are there not alternatives to neutralizing an underground target? Shouldn't those be given priority in designing?
Watch the videos, read the blogs with information (some does repeat elements, scan it). And act upon it.

Contact your media outlets (a good list is at http://www.conservativeusa.org/megalink.htm - not just conservative links, fyi), representatives, and even the Divine Strake program at divinestrake@nv.doe.gov (their "deadline" for public input was Feb. 7, but no one says we can't keep telling them that we don't want this and why) - SPREAD THE WORD!

Write, call, and demand that an Environmental Impact Study be done by an independent group (not the Pentagon) instead of an Environmental Assessment be done and two, that the Divine Strake program be terminated altogether.
