As a qualified engineer who understands all the thermodynamic and heat transfer parameters involved in the following calculation, I can confirm that I have assessed the assumptions made in this calculation and conclude that they are reasonable... if not indeed onerous towards maximising the chance that the fires did indeed aid the collapses.

I think the colour of the smoke (very thick and black) is a sure fire (excuse the pun) indication that the fires were burning at very cool temperatures due to the lack of oxygen mix causing the fuel to undergo extremely inefficient combustion.
