Where was George?

The laughable pretence that no fighter jets from either the USAF or USMC were available on 9/11 because (a) their numbers had been cut back as a peace bonus at the end of the Cold War or (b) that they had been sent out chasing moonbeams over the north Atlantic has been around for a long time, and should be of concern to those folks who believe the official version of events that day. I would like to add a small update that will probably add to their confusion. Certainly on 9/12 but probably on 9/11 also George was not far away. Yes, that's right, George. No, not the occupant of the White House, but one of the US navy's most up-to-date aircraft carriers, the USS George Washington together with its complement of around 80 fighter jets and attendant battle group, was moored off Long Island, NY. After reading this, I expect those who cling to the official version will want to write to someone to complain that something should have been done.
