Welcoming the newcomers

OK, here goes. It is my thinking that we are going to have an influx of new people here on the forum after the BBC conspiracy files airs. In light of this i think there are a number of issues we must address.

This forum is likely to be one of the places where people will come after seeing the documentary on sunday. I feel it is essential that the posters on this forum clean up their act. It is imperative we do not have any idiotic topics on the forums as this will further some people's suspisions that the whole 9/11 conspiracy is a load of nonsense.

I am calling on the moderators of this forum to be ruthless in their deletion of off topic posts/topics as i have noticed recently that there have been alot of spam topics, i.e NPT,Hologram,crop cricles, etc. There are places for these things and here is probably not the best, especially as the movement is gaining some momentum.

I also feel there is a need to update the front page with all the recent revelations, i.e include more of the poll results as that 66% one is only one of many and there are others, i.e NYT and CBS poll and MSNBC ones etc.

Yes I've noticed a ramp up in the efforts of certain "rubbish" posters and expect it to reach fever pitch when this documentary airs and also when Loose Change 3 hits screens ...

Would be good to get this long promised site and forum revamp sorted before the documentary airs but I guess its not possible Mad

When I look at the membership list (sorted descending) I see a long list of people who haven’t yet made a post.

As a recent newbie, I think it would be good to have a “new poster” thread (or threads) where the newbies can say hello. The thread should be restricted to new posters only, allowing the newbies to discuss things amongst themselves.

Well. How about an entire forum - not critics corner - dedicated to answering new and interested peoples questions? This forum should absolutely stick to the established facts and avoid discussion of CAUSE, rather stick to EVENT.

I say that, but I guess it would be an even easier target to abuse than other boards.

I think it would be good to have a list of simple things people can do. Saying they don’t have to trawl the internet for the next six months, read dozens of books and take on the NWO.

A couple of things I’d put on the list are:

1) be supportive of other people who are pushing for 9/11 truth

2) challenge people who are abusive about 9/11 truth – simply saying that it is wrong to be abusive

Totaly agree there has been an upsurge in certain posters and certain topics.

I expect there will be a blitz of every kind of foul disinfo and hate in an attempt to smear us.

Mods will have their hand full deleting and moving topics.

I’ve only just joined myself but have had at least a year to get to grips with it all, if I was at the early stage again and joined up with this place and got mobbed by a couple members that I can only call eccentric trying to sell me beam & no-plane theory’s I would have laughed off this place and got back to my life, and probably not followed it up again.

If you really want to successfully pull-in new members from the BBC documentary than you really need to clean house, the constant waffle of rubbish I’ve heard today about Steven E Jones & Dr David Ray Griffin has put a sour taste in my mouth.

I would view the BBC documentary as a golden opportunity to get more people knowing the truth, this isn’t about no-planes this isn’t about beam weapons its about convincing the masses they were lied to about 9/11, simple as that and it should be really nice a simple for any newbies to get their heads around, fill it with this rubbish I’ve seen today and you have lost your moment, with Iran approaching I’m not sure will get a second chance like this from the BBC fallout, do people realise an Iran attack could spark WW3! The lies have got to stop!

Anyway I’ve been called "incredibly naïve" today so what the hell do I know Rolling Eyes

Thats probably one of the most sensible comments I`ve read in a while.
The tremendous variety of opinion on this is one of our problems as well as (occasionally) our stengths.

Hence the reason for the sometimes violent reaction to the theories that are not mainstream-friendly. The "rubbish" you see posted here sometimes; is not a fair reflection of the movement as a whole.

I would expect that problem to change fairly radically in the next week.

we should introduce a new system of showing that we dont agree with the npt people. As soon as they post one of their dumb topics, that fenton geezer aswell he is an idiot, someone should just say "everyone in the 9/11 truth movement who disagrees say 'I'. heh"

Hello,
I'm quite new to all this too.
I saw and read something about it all a couple of years ago but didn't take enough notice,it just seemed a little too far 'out there' - I guess,like many others, the question was
"THEY wouldn't do that would they?"
Six months or so ago a friend sent me a link to Painful Deceptions.
Since then,and reading quite a bit I'm totally convinced of the conspiracy.
I'm not technically minded so its difficult to comment on much of the info/disinfo....but common sense and listening to people has helped a lot!
There is SO MUCH info out there it's quite mind-boggling and I could well understand many people getting bored of traipsing thru it all.

Anyway THANKS A LOT everyone for the valuable info,opinions(and humour) etc. !

I think the upsurge in nonsense posters relates directly to the downsurge in posters who don't want to give any credit to noplanes/beams etc by crediting it with a response.

I think (hope) most posters think that speculation is going to bring this movement down and visit this site to find out about events and new information.

Because these posters are (like me) getting sick of seeing the place clogg up with nonsense they are posting here less, visiting here less, and the result is that the forum is getting over-run with trash.

So what do we do?

Everytime I lose my composure and jump in to respond to the sci-fi speculators, I end up getting drawn into speculation myself in order to refute them or feel like I've basically just added another hit to their threads and contributed to their campaign of undermining the movement (innocent and stupid or deliberate and calculated- I wont speculate). So I stop responding and in turn contribute towards their over-running of the place anyway.

So we're damned if we do, and we're dammned if we don't.

I feel the same way with conversing with the critics- so tempting as their views are so empty, but it's just a one way ticket to a) getting drawn into speculation and/or b) losing your temper and making the place seem like a play pen.

I've expressed my opinion before- for the good of the movement we need to get tough- to limit the groundrules for discussion to set areas and to delete the vast majority of posts. I would also support the idea of having to give your real name to the administrators in order to be able to post here. Or maybe even come to a meeting to get that right.

I would MASSIVLEY support a huge cull of nonsense from this board before the BBC documentary airs. Just get brutal and delete anything which could misrepresent the majority views of the movement.

You can call that dictatorial- but running a movement like a free speech democracy will be the destruction of us.

Fix, just campaign to get changes to the swear filter. EG Any time the word SHILL appears, it is automatically replaced with the word LOVE GOD. Eg Noam Chomsky is a Love God. Or replace it with the words "My Dad" and re-read posts to find out mr Chomsky must have been putting it about a bit 20 years ago ;)

I agree about having a section on this forum for newcomers.

I understand that at the moderators' meeting in Bristol, last weekend, it was decided to cut the links between this forum and the 911 Truth Campaign (Britain and Ireland). This forum will continue as a lightly moderated discussion for all comers.

http://www.911truthcampaign.net/ will contain information about the campaign and will be the shop window on it. nineeleven.co.uk will not. There will be a private (not visible to the public) discussion forum on which committed 911 truth activists will post under their real names only.

I understand Ian Neal will be posting details of the changes shortly.

I hope we will be able to make these changes quickly, because in the view of most committed activists, many of the more outlandish posts on this forum damage the reputation of the campaign, and currently there is a huge upsurge in interest.

why dont you guys just have... like a FLASH INTRO or something, that puts across the real official kinda message of the general international 911 Truth Movement.

Which just focuses on the Main Questions, WTC7, Collapses, Pentagon Pictures, etc, etc.

So what this would do, would mean that the first thing anyone visiting the site sees, is that Intro Page, or Intro Flash/Splash Page, and they are introduced to all the things we want them to be introduced to first. Then they should be free enough to check out the forum without running away being put off by the things that go on, on all forums really.

I agree being a new member that some people joining will be searching for the outlandish theories rather than the evidence set out by so many eminent people. However I must ask that no matter how outlandish a question asked it deserves a polite answer. If a person is looking for a humanoid lizard then be gentle with your reply. That person asking the question is a PERSON. In failing polite reply then just a simple unable to comment but suggest you look at another web site which may be of better interest. Any way it is just an opinion of a new guy here and hope I dont get shot down for it...
