Six minutes into the BBC programme "7/7: The Day The Bombs Came" broadcast on 16/11/05 there is a 10 second sequence based on TfL's TrackerNet system. The sequence apparently shows Circle Line train 204 passing two red signals as it left Liverpool Street. If correct, this would be cause for concern and should have been mentioned in the programme. However, it is not correct. The sequence is a crude fake. No train apart from train 204 moves. No signal changes colour. The sequence is based on a still in which train 204 is in Liverpool street station. The box showing train 204 in the station has been crudely erased. A false, wrongly coloured box showing the number 204 is kept in the middle of the frame while the still is moved left, giving the impression of the train moving to the right.

Response to a Complaint to the BBC:

Dear xxxxxx

Thank you for your e-mail regarding '7/7 - The Day the Bombs Came' shown on the 16 November 2005.

Firstly, please accept our apologies for the delay in replying. We know our correspondents appreciate a quick response and we are sorry you have had to wait on this occasion.

We were sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction with this programme which focussed on how the emergency services coped with the events of 7 July 2005 London Bombing. This programme was told through the experiences of those in command and those at the front line.

Please be assured that your feedback about the reconstruction is much appreciated and has been registered on the daily log, this is an internal document which is made available for the '7/7 - The Day the Bombs Came' production team as well as the senior management of the BBC.

May I take this opportunity to thank you again for taking time to contact the BBC.

Regards

Katherine Tsang

Such fakery falls far below the standards expected from the BBC.
