I know there was opposition to Rodriguez going to Iran but maybe those against might want to reflect on this article...

Iran Shows the Way to Civilised Behaviour
Editorial – Islamic Services.org April 5, 2007

15 British Sailors, who had no right to be in Middle East at all, were captured by the Iranians while intruding Iran’s territory. From the first day the Iranians treated them in accordance with laws of War and peace as laid down in the Quran.

They were treated with respect as guests, provided good accommodation, food, and all the hospitality that the Islamic tradition demands. Contrary to what they might be urged to say by the British Military now that they are freed, there is no doubt that they were treated with kindness and traditional Islamic hospitality.

No orange jump suits, no barbed wire, no hoods, no electric shocks, no dogs let loose on them, no sodomy, no rape, no wild and threatening statements and no steroid fed soldiers leading them on a leash! Contrast that with Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo and Baghram in Afghanistan and you can see which culture is civilised.

Announcing the release of the British Sailors, Ahmedinejad, President of Iran said:

"On the occasion of the birthday of the great prophet (Muhammad) ... and for the occasion of the passing of Christ, I say the Islamic Republic government and the Iranian people — with all powers and legal right to put the soldiers on trial — forgave those 15," he said, referring to the Muslim prophet's birthday on March 30 and the Easter holiday.

"This pardon is a gift to the British people," he said.

Compare that with the utterances and actions of war mongers such as Bush, Blair, Cheney, Netanyahu, Olmert and Sharon. These war mongers have by their words and deeds brought wars, massacres, starvation, rape, torture and hatred to the world. America has been involved in around 100 conflicts since it’s birth (here), Israel has made wars with all it’s neighbours and has murdered tens of thousands of innocent civilians in Palestine, Lebanon and Syria. Britain, France, and Russia have caused the deaths of millions of people through their colonialist conquests.

Iran has never invaded any country and neither have the currently American occupied countries, Somalia, Iraq or Afghanistan invaded any other countries

If these wars are to be ended and mankind is to live in peace, the western world will have to listen to former Iranian President Khatami and support his “ dialogue of civilisation”

Yes, of course they should. Are we saying the Iranians are our enemy? Actually they are 911 Truth's natural ally. The people I mean. If a country's government is not all one would wish that only means you shouldn't allow the government to share any platform. Share the platform with mullahs and/or grassroots activists. And see if you can get Brigadier Gordon Kerr to explain his role as the British Army's death squad man, he'll soon get factional infighting going.

There's only one way to avert war, that's leaders who aren't in the clutches of the Military Industrial Complex/Rogue Network or whatever you want to call it and dialogue.

Has everyone noticed how all the papers today have replied to Armoured Dinner Jacket's profound gesture of peace with more weasel words? Like the Iranians are bombing people in Iraq now - more unfounded military accusations presented as fact. Our press has become a major factor in the run-up to a potential war.

Just like living in Stalinist Russia must have been - and the BBC has taken on the role of Pravda.

I was discussing with a Bristol journalist mate yesterday how all the old 'for the people' journalists have been elbowed deliberaterly to the margins. He used to work for the News Of The World when it used to be a newspaper before Murdock took it over in the 1980s.

Cheap youngsters straight out of advertorial school are being put in their place. Little do the cut and paste kids realise they are employed primarily for their naivity! And there seems to be a gentlemans agreement not to do investigations any more because they're too expensive. Regional newspapers have carved up the country now and there's almost no competition in the entire industry - so why should any regional paper stick its neck out any more.

After several rows with expensive lawyers, several threats to withdraw advertising and a sting operation or two any news organisation's investigative arm is snapped off.

I can see the headlines now from the BBC, conspiracy theorist kidnapped in Iran by MI5 er, i mean islamic fundamentalists as he tries to spread hate, or something similar.

Whats needed is someone fluent in the local language and english to translate all the pertinant points regarding false flags regarding 9/11 to feed the truth surge to the citizens in the middle east perhaps via the internet?

when it comes to leaders of nations, forget them, they are all stooges/shepherds/puppets, there to lead their flocks in the direction of the puppet masters.

have we forgotten the CIA installed Shah of Iran? When he refused to part with the oil as agreed he was removed. Shocked Who helped Saddam into power, Oh it was the CIA et al! Shocked who armed saddam with weapons? well shock horror the same players the same storyline, read the same for the american installed iraqi government masquerading as a democracy party today.
when i say the CIA, well they are also a front for the puppet masters, nothing more than a legal mafia for the masters who pull the strings of the puppets.

If he returned to the US... He would be stuck straight into Guantanamo! Shocked

Since William has family to think of, I would not reccomend this to him.

Noone from this movement/campaign should go to Iran. As Willie Rodriguez shrewdly realised (hence he refused IRI's invitation to visit) it would be too political a statement at a time when the truth movement hopefully is on its way to establishing itself as a pan-human movement and above & beyond conventional politics/partisanship.

The criminal Iranian regime within its own ambit is as much a master of deception and serial abuse of human rights as the Bush regime, as well as a major state sponsor/exporter of terror. Ask any one on the ground in the Middle East or North Africa, including our own forces battling in Iraq. Both regimes are engaged in a common game of which the object of each is to boost their power in their own heartlands by vilifying the other.

We shouldn't get entangled in this clash of the Titans by seemingly backing one side against the other. We should steer right clear of both these key centres of criminality at this time, and continue to work with the people of ALL countries, including Iranians who seek peace, accountable government and an end to state-sponsored terror.

I agree with Tony Gosling, it is very sad that William Rodriquez has decided not to go to Iran. If you believe in something, spread the word, wherever you can.

I'm afraid that the CIA can not take all of the credit for that. The Anglo-Iranian Oil Corporation, AIOC, later to be re-named British Petroleum, BP, was jointly owned by the British government and private citizens. In his excellent book 'Web of Deceit' (Vintage, 2003) Mark Curtis* heads up a chapter titled: Overthrowing the Government of Iran, with the following quote:

Quote:
Our policy was to get rid of Mossedeq as soon as possible.
Attrib: Sir Donald Logan, British Embassy, Iran.

The reason was that Mossedeq nationalised all oil operations in 1951, but the offered compensation and ongoing terms did not please the Brits, so they began the process of getting rid of Iran's democratically elected government, which led to the re-installation of the Shah as that country's supreme ruler. Inevitably, the CIA became involved, but the impetus was definitely Made in Britain.

*Mark Curtis is one of those rare historians who does not praise the winners, or blame the losers. He tells it like it happened.
