Heathrow is 'struggling' to cope

British Airways says the opening of Terminal 5 will improve things
Heathrow Airport is "struggling" to cope with passenger numbers and increased security regulations, Britain's largest airline has told MPs.

British Airways (BA) told the Commons Transport Committee that the country's largest airport is effectively full and unable to manage in emergencies.

BA also informed the committee of their yearly incident audit report which raised several alarming occurrences of both random and organised public disturbances that may have escalated into major incidents

One such instance detailed a lone individual called 'Fred' who was arrested by Airport security for streaking through the Terminal 4 BA check in area, naked except for a small holographic sticker over his private parts shouting 'TV fakery, 9/11 truth will prevail'

'Fred' was later sectioned due to his insistence that there were in fact 'no planes' at Heathrow and the entire airport was a holographic projection.

The hearing was part of an inquiry into passengers' experiences of air travel.

British Airways ground operations director Geoff Want said: "Heathrow is struggling and the only real relief will come when the new Terminal 5 opens.

"Is there a plan in place to make Heathrow better than last year? Not really."
