haha i posted in the dustbin
take 2 ....
Hi all,
Molten lava, a debunking 911 site gives the following explaination...
Oxidation of iron by air is not the only EXOTHERMIC reaction of iron (= structural steel which is about 98 % Fe, 1 % Mn, 0.2 % C, 0.2 % Si.....). There is at least one additional reaction of iron with the capability of keeping the rubble pile hot and cooking!
The reaction between IRON AND STEAM is also very EXOTHERMIC and fast at temperatures above 400 deg C. This reaction produces Fe3O4 AND HYDROGEN. It is the classic example of a REVERSIBLE REACTION studied in Chemistry labs at high school. But believe it or not, back at the turn of the century, the reaction of iron and steam was used as an industrial process for the manufacture of hydrogen.....

Does it stand up to scrutiny?
As there are no dates on these pages, it's really difficult to know what the latest news on any given subject is. |

Jones' thermate hypothesis is not only inadequate but redundant in explaining the molten metal pouring out of the north-east corner of the South Tower. His arguments against aluminium based upon the colour of the metal are fallacious, as clearly demonstrated at
http://www.debunking911.com/moltensteel.htm
As Bollyn revealed
http://www.iamthewitness.com/Bollyn-Fuji-WTC.html
based upon a communication with a former Fujii Bank employee and now confirmed by the evidence presented at
http://11-settembre.blogspot.com/2007/02/ups-on-81st-floor-of-wtc2.htm l
the reinforced 81st floor, out of which the molten metal flowed, was loaded with banks of lead batteries for a UPS (Uninterrupted Power Source) for Fujii Bank's computers. Photographs of comparable banks of batteries used by a company not in the WTC can be seen at this link. When they melted, the lead mixed with molten aluminium from the plane that had crashed into the 81st floor, as well as with other detritus, and poured out of the face of the tower, this floor having subsided because its trusses had given way, despite having been reinforced to take the tons of weight of the banks of lead batteries housed on this floor. It is this material that was filmed, not molten steel.
Thermate is therefore not needed to explain what happened, quite apart from having problems of its own that Jones has not addressed in his latest paper but which are considered at the first link, although the debunker was wrong to say that 9/11 truthers like Jones argue for thermate because office fires are not hot enough to melt aluminium - they are, but truthers point out that that they are not hot enough to melt STEEL, if that was what poured out of the South Tower (but it wasn't).
Here is the conclusion of the article at the above link:
"Given these facts, it is very likely that the flow was due to light-alloy aluminum but also to the lead of the batteries, combined with other materials originating from the contents of the 81st floor. This combination of materials, after the failure of the floor, poured onto the 80th floor and from there flowed out from the building face. In my opinion, the weight of the batteries and the weakening caused by the fire on the 80th floor (which compromised the structural capacity of the overlying floor trusses) had an important role in the failure of the 81st floor." |

Melted plane and lead batteries?
So that's what all this is then?:
Neat! |

In the interests of avoiding unnecessary disputes, I feel I should point out that post 1 and post 2 of this topic are discussing different issues. |

Good point. Can't say I noticed - the second post took all my attention when I read it.
(Then again, most of the posts in the controversies section seem to be discussing different issues! ) |

Okay. Two questions.
a) Why is it incandescent? It's clearly a bright orange, which indicates a very high temperature. As far as I know, lead, like aluminium, is silvery when it melts.
b) Why did the lead not just turn to liquid and flow out of the window in the first place instead of waiting until it was orange-hot and then deciding to take the plunge? |
