Steven Jones has published a new scientific paper, It is very well written and worth reading.

The 'toasted car' phenomenon is explained by the presence of massive quantities of potassium permanganate (KMnO4) in the pyroclastic cloud after the towers disintergrated into dust. KMnO4 is a potent oxidising agent.

He also talks about collapse mechanics and the overall failure of the structures.
