A 37-year-old woman was shot dead by police in Sevenoaks, Kent, in the early hours of Monday.
The incident happened after officers responded to reports of a woman with a firearm, the [Lying far-right ex-cops at the - ed.]Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) said.
An IPCC spokesman said: "I can confirm that in the early hours of this morning Kent Police fatally shot a person.
"This has been referred to the IPCC which has a team of investigators now at the scene."
Part of the town centre, including the bus station, was sealed off with police tape.
Michelle Harriot, manager of Loch Fyne Fish Restaurant in the High Street, said police officers were taking statements around the bus station.
She said: "I saw three or four police officers on the streets this morning and a couple of vans but the only thing I have really heard is from the radio.
"This is peak commuter time and everyone is just carrying on as normal. I don't think anyone's really aware of what's happened."
A Caffe Nero employee nearer to the scene of the incident said he arrived at work just after six and police were already there.
"There are lots of police around but they haven't really told us what happened," he said.
Police kill woman in Sevenoaks, Kent

Armed police shot and killed a person in a quiet English market town early this morning, the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has confirmed.
The shooting took place in a car park in Sevenoaks, Kent, at the back of several high street shops.
The body of the victim is believed to still be at the scene and forensic officers wearing protective clothing have erected an inflatable tent to preserve any evidence.
A wide area has been sealed off by officers, including, it is believed, around the bus station.
An IPCC spokesman said: “I can confirm that in the early hours of this morning Kent Police fatally shot a person.
“This has been referred to the IPCC which has a team of investigators now at the scene and we are working to notify next of kin.”
Vanessa Wallis, a supervisor at M&Co, a ladies clothes shop, said police were standing guard at their emergency exits to stop anyone going out of the back of the shop. It appears that the shooting happened at the back of the store.
"There are a lot of police here at the moment but they are not letting us go out the back. The road the shooting happened is used by the shops for deliveries. It is all sealed off at the moment."
A spokesman for Kent Police refused to confirm details of the shooting. He said: “We are working on a press release at the moment.”

I find this disturbing as I am relatively frequent visitor to Sevenoaks. Here is a BBC link to the story.

Her workplace, Rotosounds, in Morewood Close, Sevenoaks was closed today. An angry worker declined to comment, saying: "You come back and tell me why the police shot her and then I'll talk."
I too know sleepy Sevenoaks well........
Shot in the heart for being drunk in charge of a BB gun
Another police murderer will doubtless be exonerated by the crooked masonic IPCC.
Woman shot dead by police in Sevenoaks named

Investigators today named the woman shot dead by armed police following a stand-off in a department store car park.
Ann Sanderson, 37, was killed by officers investigating reports of a woman with a gun in Sevenoaks, Kent, in the early hours of Monday.
A post-mortem examination will take place later today, the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) said.
Today, IPCC officers were continuing their investigation into the shooting, led by deputy senior investigator Bill Stone.
Forensic experts have been combing the car park of M & Co, a department store based in the High Street.
A single, anonymous floral tribute was left at the spot where Ms Sanderson, of Bethel Road, Sevenoaks, died.
The IPCC said a firearm was recovered at the scene, but would not comment further on exactly what it was.
However, a police officer was seen carrying what looked like a cartridge of plastic toy gun pellets in a transparent evidence bag away from the scene yesterday.
The small ball-shaped pellets are commonly used in guns known as BB guns, which are often extremely realistic.
Witnesses described hearing shouting during a 20-minute stand-off, followed by a single gunshot at about 3am yesterday.
School caretaker Kevin Taylor, 47, whose Buckhurst Avenue home overlooks the car park, said he heard someone shout: "Drop the weapon."
He added: "It was about 3am, I checked my alarm clock which is right next to my bed. There was a bit of shouting and stuff, and it was all over in about 20 minutes.
"A woman police officer was doing all the shouting. As soon as the shot rang out I knew it was serious.
"It was very, very loud - it sounded like a real meaty weapon. There was a stand-off but it was dark and you couldn't see too much."
IPCC commissioner Nicola Williams said police were first alerted at about 1.20am to a woman in the High Street area with a gun.
She said: "I send my sympathies to the woman's family and friends and also the police officers concerned.
"Whenever there is a fatal shooting by police our independent investigators go to the incident immediately."
Prior to the shooting, the only woman to have been shot dead by police since 1980 was 16-year-old Gail Kinchin.
She was accidentally killed that year by West Midlands police while she was being held hostage.
Two women have been wounded in police shootings - the first was Cherry Groce, who was shot in her bed by armed officers who raided her south London house, looking for her son.
Her case sparked the second Brixton riots in 1985.
And in 1997, Jane Lee suffered three gunshot wounds to her hand, shoulder and groin, after police received reports that she was armed and chased the vehicle she was driving to a cul-de-sac in Ilford, Essex.
Ms Sanderson was known as Tosh, according to her neighbour Victor Mayes.
The 65-year-old architect said: "We always called her Tosh. When she first came here about nine years ago she was a little reclusive and a little guarded and in time she started to loosen up."
He said her death had left them extremely shocked. He said: "Perhaps she had a few drinks, something along those sort of lines. She never struck me as being the sort of person to go berserk.
"It's a complete surprise to me. If somebody had said to me 'would you say she was unstable' I would have said 'not really'."
Mr Mayes said Ms Sanderson had a "quiet" girlfriend who used to visit at weekends.
Her workplace, Rotosounds, in Morewood Close, Sevenoaks was closed today. An angry worker declined to comment, saying: "You come back and tell me why the police shot her and then I'll talk." _________________ www.lawyerscommitteefor9-11inquiry.org

If Sevenoaks is a quiet market town all UK towns must be full of cokeheads after a fight, fueled on coke and alcahol!
