Report from Belinda - Muslim Unity rally in Trafalgar Square 11 Feb

On Saturday afternoon (11 Feb, a poignant date!) I campaigned for 911 Truth at the Muslim Unity rally in Trafalgar Square, attended by some 100,000 mainly Muslims (speakers included GG who was briefly heckled about Big Brother!).

I had on my usual back-mounted bright turquoise-and-red 911 banner depicting the 3 Towers with caption "5 years 2 wars and still no TRUTH" plus an extra message pinned on for the occasion "MUSLIMS ARE YOU BEING SET UP??". It must have been glaringly visible amidst the uniform white and blue, commercially-produced placards reading "United against Islamophobia" and "Muhammad Prophet of Honour and Freedom" so it wasn't long of course before I was ushered out of the main demo area (home-made placards were banned on this occasion). But by then I'd probably already been spotted by large numbers of the crowd and had polluted a significant chunk of the film-coverage! I gave out around 400 British & Irish 911 Truth Campaign flyers - as well as inserting "& Irish" in the title I also put a reference/website address for Scholars for 911 Truth on p.1 and on p.2 added at the bottom Stop press 2006:

"Following 7/7, I believe there is a continuing, cynically-orchestrated campaign to stir up hostility in western societies between Muslims and non-Muslims, to justify further wars and and domestic repression". D. Shayler.

I also gave out about 100 CTE DVDs, most of which I have to say went too quickly from the box on my back for me to collect donations but I did get £60 (straight into the David & Annie Travel & Subsistence fund with that!) and was snapped dozens of times, including by an Indian lady who insisted on having me +banner standing alongside Garda, leading light of the STW campaign who seemed to have no objections to this and was perfectly friendly. I also gave 3 interviews to unidentified film-crews including a young female journalist from N.York who said "well done for what you're doing, we're all totally fed up with it over there, another 2 years and they'll all be finished". I told her we were looking at 1 year max.

The Muslim ushers and policemen who told me to take down my banner and kept shepherding me out of the main area (I kept leaking back...) were civil and good-natured, some even took leaflets and DVDs and I only had 2 negative encounters the whole afternoon despite talking to dozens of people; a young N. African Muslim was worried I was replicating the 911 banners at the Danish embassy (demanding Muslim executions) but when I asked him "how many Towers are there on this banner?" and pointed out the "Muslims are you being set up??" message he was OK.

The other was a Brit who shot past me shouting "you should be ashamed of yourself, spreading rubbish like that!" I shouted back "then why are so many scientists and academics questioning the official version?" but he bellowed back "I'm an engineer and I can tell you're just WRONG" then he was gone.

I also met Bruce Kent of CND who recognised me and gave a faint smile but I was in the middle of a crowd of eager Muslims all scrabbling for leaflets and DVDs so I couldn't talk to him on this occasion.
