Family of 7/7 bombing victim slam Jackie Chan film makers for blowing up bus outside Parliament
20:07, 7 FEB 2016 UPDATED 01:01, 8 FEB 2016 BY RUSSELL MYERS
Onlookers reacted with horror as a bus was blown up on Lambeth bridge - and they didn't know it was for a film

The father of a 7/7 bombing victim lashed out at an ‘insensitive’ movie stunt that saw a bus blown up in London for a new blockbuster film.
The image of the scorched double decker bus with its roof peeled back on Lambeth Bridge provoked sickening memories of the tragic scenes from July 7 2005.
A number 30 bus was blasted in Tavistock Square, central London, killing 13 passengers including 18-year-old terrorist Hasib Hussain.
Some onlookers reacted with horror after witnessing the explosion and huge fireball after the blast this morning at 10.30am.
The image of the scorched bus with its roof peeled back, provoked memories of the number 30 bus bombed during the 7/7 attacks.

The stunt was the part of the eagerly awaited film The Foreigner starring Jackie Chan and former Bond star Pierce Brosnan.
John Taylor, whose 24 year old daughter Carrie was killed at Aldgate Station on 7/7 said the stunt was ‘insensitive’ and more care should have been taken to inform people of the explosion.
Mr Taylor, who works at the Tate Gallery which is just 300 yards from the scene on Lambeth Bridge, said even though he had been made aware that filming was taking place there was no mention that a London bus would be blown up as part of the shoot.
He said: “You can totally understand why some people would be alarmed seeing this today. Fair enough there is filming that goes on in the city but this seems particularly insensitive.

Too close to home
“Obviously the London attacks were 10 years ago but if people didn’t know about it then of course they would be concerned.
“When planning this kind of event in the centre of London, near to where MI5 and MI6 are close by, you can understand that if people didn’t know about it, it certainly would give great concern to some.
“I know a lot of the families, of other victims and survivors, would be upset by this. Perhaps it wasn’t thought through as much as it should have been.”
Witness Sophie Kinsella wrote on Twitter: “Hey film types, next time you blow up a bus on Lambeth Bridge maybe tell us first so children in park aren’t freaked?”

Onlooker Paul Rowland wrote: “Londoners would have liked more warning that Jackie Chan was going to blow up a bus on Lambeth Bridge.”
And Steve Cathutch wrote: “So with the country on terrorist alert who thought blowing up a bus on Lambeth Bridge for a film was a good idea?

Money talking again.”
Even the National Police Air Service helicopter team expressed their initial fears after seeing the explosion from above.
The helicopter cops tweeted a picture showing a bird’s eye view of the aftermath of the stunt with the bus blown apart on the bridge, saying: “Noticed this on Lambeth bridge as we passed. Got v (sic) worried until we realised they were filming! #theforeigner”
TfL officials had placed boards at the entry to the bridge but did not mention an explosion.
The only warnings of a blast were posted through letterboxes of the nearest resdients.
Conservative MP for Mid Worcestershire Nigel Huddleston posted a video of the explosion on Twitter with the message: “Anyone worried about the exploding bus on Lambeth Bridge just now? It was just for a movie.”
He later added: “They did notify locals by putting notices in flats and offices etc. But given the size of the explosion I’m sure many tourists and some locals must have been worried.
“Twitter worked pretty well in clarifying it was for a film pretty quickly. But not everyone is on Twitter.”
The film’s producers posted a warning on Twitter about the explosion beforehand which said: “The explosion is controlled and operated by our special effects team.”

It added: “Every precaution will be taken to ensure the safety of the people in the area.”
Others said the stunt was in bad taste given the events of the 7/7 terror attack in London when crazed jihadists blew up a London bus in nearby Tavistock Square
The bomb was detonated by 18-year-old terrorist Hasib Hussain on a double-decker bus bearing route number 30 which had been diverted from its normal route because of traffic disruption by three other bombings at tube stations.
The bomb exploded killing 13 passengers, plus Hussain himself while many others were injured.
A spokesperson for the Met Police said the force was made aware of the incident but refused to comment on whether members of the public were notified.
The controlled explosion was shot for a scene in new action flick The Foreigner, starring Jackie Chan and Pierce Brosnan.
In a notice warning residents about it, film producers described the film as a “gritty action thriller” which has a budget of more than £20million.
The multimillion pound blockbuster sees martial arts legend Chan take revenge on Irish terrorists who are responsible for the death of his daughter.
Brosnan plays a government official and former IRA member.
Chan, 61, has been spotted in the last week filming on the capital’s streets where fans have been posting photos of him on social media.
The blockbuster is directed by Martin Campbell, who was behind James Bond films Casino Royale and GoldenEye.

The film’s producers posted a warning on Twitter about the explosion beforehand which said: “The explosion is controlled and operated by our special effects team.”
It added: “Every precaution will be taken to ensure the safety of the people in the area.”
A spokesman for the Port of London Authority confirmed it was a stunt for a film but again could not confirm what safety processes had been put in place.
Transport for London tweeted a single message yesterday (SUN) morning confirming the bridge was closed for filming but again failed to inform Londoners and tourists there would be a huge explosion taking place.
No one from the London Mayor’s office was available for comment.
The Foreigner is slated for release later this year.

Mrs C
I was a tourist in London yesterday and having just stepped out of my hotel on the Albert Embankment walked a few yards up the road to see a bridge cordoned off, the place swarming with police and security personnel shouting for us to "keep right", we asked what was happening twice and were ignored. I heard on the security radio "we are in lock down" all followed by a large explosion on the bridge.... what would you think? We hadn't been informed by our hotel, there were no signs in the street to say that filming was taking place and we were ignored by security personnel. I have no issue filming took place, I understand some people involved in previous terror attacks may feel this was insensitive but I also understand that films are away for us to tell stories and there is a place for them in our culture. My issue is with the lack of communication, announcements on twitter and through the doors of locals does not reach the tourists who were in the area, or frankly enough of the locals. It was upsetting to be there and not very well thought out, and in my opinion deserves the public backlash.

Think of all the free publicity the film now has! Using CGI just wouldn't have got the publicity--OR the reminder that leaving the EU could allow all the terrorist migrants into our country.
