LOL things are gettin more crazy everyday,i cannot beleve they can put a story out like this! surely,no ones gonna fall for this?

"Supermarket checkout staff are being trained by the security services in how to detect potential terrorists. MI5 has been secretly advising food retailers, including Asda and Tesco, on how to identify extremist shoppers.

One terrorism expert said: "Terrorists know if they frighten people from everyday activities they are 'winning the war'. What better than a busy supermarket which is hard to defend and with lots of cars in a car park?"

The Asda chain is owned by the US retail giant Wal-Mart. Last year, three Palestinian-Americans from Texas were arrested in a Wal-Mart outlet in Michigan after staff spotted them bulk-buying mobile phones.

The suspects claimed to be buying the 80 handsets to resell them for a profit, but police held them on suspicion they were planning to use the phones as detonators. Their van contained 1,000 phones and pictures of a bridge, police said. The men are awaiting trial.

Unbelieveable article. Should perhaps read.

"Security Services know if they frighten people from everyday activities they are 'winning the war' on freedom. What better than a creating busy supermarket paranoia which is hard to defend against and with lots of cars in a car park, we can blow up a few with no casualties just to reinforce the idea"

So perhaps shop bombs or poisoned food is next. Or perhaps they dont need to do anything at all except suggest it.

Bear in mind however that the Manchester Arndale bombing took place exactly 1 month after a live terror drill with 200 employees based on a scenario involving a bombing of ASDA in Ashton. If memory serves.

Was expecting:

"Staff have been trained to suspect anyone who declines a store card as having something to hide"

But I guess that'll come later!

You couldn't make this up if you tried, yet this kind of twaddle is put out through official channels and presumably people believe it. I'm sure most of us have walked through London with pictures on our cameras of landmarks and mobile phones in our pockets, is this going to become illegal next? (bearing in mind UK always follows USA when the trend is a negative one).

God forbid anyone buying fireworks for Nov 5th or New Year!. You wont be allowed to by anything more than a five second rocket which emits a 1 second buzz like a bee.

Someone once said to me that the UK is 'the island of fools'. I think he was right.

I heard an advert for this new campaign on Classics FM this evening.

Cue check out person:

How will I know if they are buying that for food or to make a bomb ?

How can I recognise a terrorist ?

What do they look like ?

How do I know ?

Cue masterful MI5 voice:

Don't worry. You don't have to.

Just ring this number and our trained experts will be able to help.

This is the beginning of UK citizens spying on each other.

That is undoubtedly one of the more sinister adverts I have heard! What do you report? People (of a certain look) asking for directions? People (of a certain look) taking video of well known landmarks?

I think I'll stay in NZ a little longer ....

Met police launch new anti terror campaign:

It's probably nothing but ...

Quote:
"It's probably nothing, but…" counter-terrorism campaign launched in London

12 February 2012
New Scotland Yard

One phone call to police could save lives - that’s the message of a new counter-terrorism publicity campaign launched by the Metropolitan Police Service today (Monday, 13 February).

Everyone who works, lives and visits London has a role to play in helping to counter the terrorist threat which remains real and serious.

Police fully understand that people may be reluctant to tell them about suspicious activity or behaviour - but they stress that all calls to the confidential Anti-Terrorist Hotline are taken by specially trained officers and information is thoroughly analysed and researched before, and if, any action is taken.

No piece of information is considered too small or insignificant.

The four-week campaign: “It’s probably nothing, but …” consists of local newspaper adverts and one 40-second radio ad across London. Leaflets will also be distributed to 1.4 million households in the Capital.

DAC Stuart Osborne, Senior National Co-ordinator Counter Terrorism, said:

“The terrorist threat to London, and the UK generally, remains real and serious, so it is vital that everyone continues to be vigilant and aware.

“We at the Metropolitan Police Service have a key role in countering this threat, whether it is from Al-Qaeda inspired groups or individuals, or Irish Dissident Republican Groups - but we can only do this with the support of all our communities.

“Terrorists live amongst us. We want you to tell us about anyone or anything you see which is out of place in your normal day to day lives.

“We know you may have concerns about speaking to the police - possibly because your friends or family may find out. But you may well have information which could save lives.

“We would rather take lots of calls which are made in good faith, but have innocent explanations. - rather than not getting any at all. Not making that call could mean we miss out on a vital piece of information.

“Our priority is to keep the public safe - but we can only do that with your help. Please trust your instincts. Call the confidential Anti-Terrorist Hotline on 0800 789 321.”

MPS

Quote:
COMMUNITIES CAN DEFEAT TERRORISM

Terrorists live amongst us when they are planning attacks.

We want you to look out for the unusual – some activity or behaviour which strikes you as not quite right and out of place in your normal day to day lives.

You may feel it’s probably nothing, but unless you trust your instincts and tell us we won’t be able to judge whether the information you have is important or not.

Remember, no piece of information is considered too small or insignificant.

Our specially trained officers would rather take lots of calls which are made in good faith, but have innocent explanations – rather than not getting any at all.

We know you may have concerns about speaking to the police – possibly because your friends or family may find out.

But all information passed to the police is treated in the strictest of confidence. It is thoroughly analysed and researched by experienced officers before, and if, any police action is taken.

Suspicious activity could include someone:

• Who has bought or stored large amounts of chemicals, fertilisers or gas cylinders for no obvious reason.

• Who has bought or hired a vehicle in suspicious circumstances.

• Who holds passports or other documents in different names for no obvious reason.

• Who travels for long periods of time, but is vague about where they’re going.

Dear MPS

It's probably nothing but, there's a big sprawling complex in Langley, Virginia, where I think you'll find all the terrorism you need for several lifetimes to come.

You might also like to assemble a few hundred riot clad officers, a few trigger happy hoodlums from CO19 and a few in NCB suits, just for ze papers like, and maybe go and kick the doors in at Thames House and see what you can find too ...

It's probably nothing but that Jonathan Evans & Co seem to be using entrapment for every "terrorism plot" that we are sold ...

Unless of course anybody cares to name one single plot, where they haven't, in which case, it's probably nothing ...

Perhaps the Supermarket staff should be informed about Operation Gladio where - as documented by Daniel Ganser and others - NATO committed many acts of terrorism in Europe - doing such things as blowing-up railway stations.

As soon the checkout staff saw anyone in NATO - which includes everyone in the UK Armed Forces - they could set off an alarm of some sort.

Perhaps thay should also be told about Depleted Uranium and how the UK military that used it will still be killing people in Bosnia and Iraq in a million years time. Indiscriminate killing of civilians is a war crime. Surely war criminals are the same as terrorists - they terrify me! Once again, as soon the checkout staff saw anyone in the UK Armed Forces or any UK politician (who all support the use of DU) - they could set off an alarm of some sort.

And then of course there's the London policemen who assassinated Mark Duggan and lied about it. And Jean Charles de Menezes and lied about it.
So now we have the checkout staff setting off the alarm whenever thay see anyone in UK Armed Forces or any UK politician or any London policeman.

If we start including the Financial terrorrists - perhaps the Supermarked staff could be informed of "The Economic Hitmen" as described by John Perkins. Now the alarm goes off any time a Banker walks into a store.

In my opinion we have far more to fear from the terrorists listed above than from any disgruntled moslems.
